Watch out for the sheepdogs. They are very aggressive towards strangers and will go for you.

If you keep your wits about you then it's a beautiful hike with some great views. Best start point on the Gjirakastre side is the car park for the archeological park. From there the first part of the trail is well marked heading towards tbe monastry. Once you turn off towards the peak you'll need a map as the trail can be difficult to spot at times. Give any herds of sheep a very wide berth. If they or the dogs are on the trail wait for them to pass at a distance or turn back. Hiking poles are recommended.
