Areni Lodge Guest House & Cottage

We stayed at the Areni Lodge Guest House & Cottage for 2 nights in early September 2018. We immediately fell in love with this quiet little guesthouse, which was exactly the kind of place we were looking for in Areni.

The rooms were simple, comfortable, and very clean. The guesthouse enjoys a large backyard, which feels like the garden of Eden. It is full of fruit trees (walnuts, apples, pears, figs, plums) and you only have to stretch your arm to pick and eat nature's bounties. We spent delightful afternoons there reading and admiring Armenia's countryside.

Areni Lodge Guest House & Cottage also proved to be an excellent base to explore Areni and its wineries. Two of the most reputable ones are only 5 minutes walk from it. It is also only a short drive to Noravank monastery and from Areni's caves.

Foodwise, the guesthouse serves delicious breakfasts and dinners with food that come straight from its garden. So if you are asked if you'd like to have dinner there, don't miss that opportunity.

We must say that the owners, Hasmik, Ara, and their respective families, treated us like guests of honours and were extremely attentive to any of our needs. Hasmik organized us a memorable wine tasting session with a visit of her family's vineyard.

In the end, it feels like we came there as guests and left as friends. What more could you ask for?

This was by far our favorite place in Armenia and we sincerely wish that we can come back one day.

If you go to Areni, you must go there!
