Hutovo Blato

We went there for birding in the evening but were not lucky to get a boat to explore the park. It seems this park is being developed but still sufficient information is not available for people to come and explore it.
From information center, we got to know there are only 2 boat trips available during the day - one at 12 noon and another at 5pm.
There is no concept of booking a boat trip in advance.
I hope info required for birding in this area will be made available in the near future so people can plan accordingly.

A special place at the south of Herzegovina. Hutovo Blato is a national park located outside of Čapljina. It is home for more than 240 species of birds and an important pit-stop for migration during the seasons. The park is protected by the government.
This marshland is created by many underground rivers, of which Krupa is the biggest. I've biked all around the two lakes (which are separated by a hill in the middle) and it is simply amazing. You can feel the presence of the Adriatic sun in the middle of December! Such an amazing experience! But the best time to visit Hutovo Blato is June. Everything is so green.

Hutovo Blato is a nature reserve and bird reserve located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is primarily composed of marshlands that were created by the underground aquifer system of the Krupa River. It is fed from the limestone massif of Ostrvo that divides the Deransko Lake and Svitavsko Lake. The reserve is on the list of BirdLife International's Important Bird Areas. It is the largest reserve of its kind in the region, in terms of both size and diversity. It is home to over 240 types of migratory birds and dozens that make their permanent home in the sub-Mediterranean wetlands surrounding Deransko Lake.In the migration season, tens of thousands of birds fill the lake and its surroundings.

Excellent place. It is well looked after and very interesting. The boat trip was great and inexpensive. Most recommended.

Very peaceful and calm place to wander around, many bird species live there throughout the year, big natural reserve! Boat rides included throughout the whole area, perfect experience, highly recommend!

Hutovo blato je park prirode i ptičji rezervat u Bosni i Hercegovini. Nastao je od podzemnog vodotoka rijeke Krupe, koja se ulijeva u Neretvu. Park je dom za preko 240 vrsta ptica, 44 vrste riba, 700 vrsta biljaka i mnoge druge životinje. Park je zaštićen kao Ramsarsko područje i važno stanište ptica. Hutovo blato je jedno od najvećih zimovališta ptica u Europi.

Park je zelo velik, ima tudi hotel, tako da lahko prespite in ga v miru raziščete. Ima veliko sprehajalnih stez, imajo pa tudi vožnjo z ladjico, ter veliko piknik prostorov ob vodi, kamor vas pripeljejo z ladjico in pridejo po vas.

Oduševilo me sve, park prirode, restoran, ali priroda je nestvarna. Toliko smirujući zvuk zrikavaca pomješan sa povjetarcem koji je kao naručen u srpnju. Presladak je mali motelčić u čijem sklopu je i restoran. A hrana, hrana me vraća u djetinjstvo. Palenta sa prelivenim maslom i domaćom kiselinom. Tu su i specijaliteti, za svačiji gušt. Od pršuta sa uštipcima, hoćeš goveđi ili svinjski, do jegulje, žaba na ovaj ili onaj način. Na brudet, žabe i na brudet i pohovane, meso ispod peke sa krumpirom i još toliko toga da ne bi stalo. Bila sam u Kopačkom ritu, bilo je lijepo, na Kravicama, ali ova netaknuta priroda i to prostranstvo i raznolikost me oduševila. Obveeeznnnooo doći. Za ljubitelje prirode pravi raj,za one koji zele prošetati sa svojim kućnim ljubimcima pravi je izbor, postoje sadrzaji za djecu, mogućnost voznje brodicom. Restoran ima raznovrsnu i kvalitetnu ponudu, cijene pristojne, osoblje ljubazno.

Wenn man unberüherte Natur erleben möchte, ist man hier abseits der Massentourismus genau richtig. Bei einer etwa 30-minütigen Bootstour auf der Kupa kann man viele Vögel und Reptilien beobachen. So konnten wir Taucher, Reiher, Komorane, Schlangen, Frösche und sogar einen großen Adler sehen. Leider sind Wegweiser kaum vorhanden oder schlecht zu lesen, die Infrastuktur ist durchaus ausbaufähig. (Aber vielleicht wäre dann auch dieser Geheimtip überlaufen).
