Travnička Tvrđava (Stari Grad)

I went there during the winter last year. It was off season and the wind was really cold, but I enjoyed the greatness of the castle.

Very big and very beautiful castle. You should buy ticket for entrance. The view is unbelievable

It was magnificant experience. It shows old Bosnian tradition and place where Bosnian kings lived...Fortress is in very good condiotion, and the view from the top is magical. Recommend for visit if you travel through Bosnia. It has free parking place area 50 feets above the entrance..

Large fortress with lots to explore for families. Beautiful views from every side. Very good entry price and some interesting information and exhibitions inside the towers - in local language on the signs but an English translation is available on the leaflets hanging next to them.

This place was super nice. I liked the fort experience and the whole area. You must play archery 🎯 and take photos with sword and shield when you visit there. A must go place ♥. Thank you very nice staff in there for your kind welcome.

Fantastic fort.

Old Fort is one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval fortified buildings in Bosnia on which later historical periods left their distinctive characteristics. In so far known historiography sources, there is no record of the year and the duration of construction, or the builder. Historians agree that the castle was built in the second half of the 14th or the first half of the 15th century. By way of construction and other indications it is assumed that the original builder was King Tvrtko II Kotromanić, but King Stjepan Dabiša is also stated as a possible builder.
The present appearance of the walls and towers themselves are the result of intervention of Turkish builders of military fortifications. In 1953 the fort was placed under the patronage of the Museum of Travnik. Thanks to the director of the Museum Stipe Ložić the cleaning and redecorating of the fort began, with the archaeological and conservation work. Soon Stari grad became a center of cultural and artistic events in Travnik, which is seen by many tourists and visitors. The process of renewal and revitalization of the fortress was initiated in 1999. For Stari grad today has the status of a national monument in BIH.

Must-see in Travnik.

Travnikban a Lastva folyótól északra, a hegyoldalban épült a szép fekvésű vár. Épen maradt részeit karban tartják. Két kiállítóterem is látható és nyáron szabadtéri előadásoknak is helyt ad a vár. Szép minaret adja meg a jellegzetes képét, érdemes itt elidőzni és mellette meg is lehet ebédelni.

Sist jag var här var med min pappa. Nu har de restaurerat fästningen och det har blivit så fint! Pappas grav ligger 500 m från fästningen. Volim te babo❤
