St Martin's Church

One of the most beautiful churches in Flanders, dedicated to St. Martin, now that the statue is inside, it's great that they are still working on its restoration. Image of St. Rocha by P. Rubens, this time, on the way from Antwerp, free to see. Awesome atmosphere.

One of the most beautifull churches I have seen in Belgium, iy is really big, clean, with excellent paintings and statues, you must go there and feel the ancient air! it is a pitty that there are reconstruction works, you can see just about half of the church, Cons: it is open just till 1700

An amazing church. Plenty of paintings, besides the notorious one from Rubens. The stained glasses are just lovely too. Then there are sculptures, columns with their capitals, arches and wooden structures which are just dainty. As a matter of fact, what I liked the most is the plan of the building and its shapes, very symmetric, rich and imposing. The atmosphere is holy and calm (in the middle of the afternoon recorded music was on). The part behind the altar is still under renovation, so wasn't able to venture everywhere, but I'll be back. Ps. There's also a nicely done replica of a wooden crucifix by Cimabue.

Hughe and impressive church dedicated to Saint Martin (the local equivalent of Santa Claus) with a painting by Rubens and regular concert venue to the world reknown boys and men choir Schola Cantorum Cantate Domino. The building and organ are in urgent need of repair.

Zeer mooie kerk, lijkt groter binnenin dan van buitenaf gezien. De Rubens en andere kunstwerken zijn zeker een bezoekje waard. De opgeknapte zolder die voor het eerst opengesteld is voor het publiek is de trappen zeker waard.

Ziet er veel groter uit binnen dan buiten

Momenteel ondergaat deze kerk een volledige restauratie en dat is buiten op borden aan het hekwerk aangegeven wat de planning (tijdlijn) is om aan te pakken.
Is van binnen indrukwekkend om te zien.

We bezochten de tentoonstelling 'Iedereen Rubens' met als uitgangspunt het schilderij van Rubens: 'de pestlijders'. Het gehele opzet is heel erg leuk, mooi gedaan en je ziet een heel ander stuk van de kerk dan wat je gewoon hebt. Het is zeker de moeite om dit eens te gaan bezoeken. Reken hiervoor net iets meer dan 30 minuten en neem zeker wat extra tijd om eens in de kerk rond te kijken.

Esplendida Igreja! Apresenta peças de arte e quadros de culto religioso de rara beleza e valorosos inclusive um quadro de P.P Rubens, famoso pintorcde Flandres do sec. XVl. A igreja tem tambem um órgão. O edificio em si tem forma de cruz.
Vale mesmo a pena visitar por que também situa-se no centro historico da cidade.

Prachtige historische kerk, momenteel is er een restauratie aan de gang, dus delen niet bezichtbaar. Er is een leuke tijdelijke interactieve tentoonstelling (zeker voor kinderen) rond Rubens. Voorts diverse (kunst)werken van onschatbare waarden (bv. van P. P. Rubens, maar ook andere objecten zoals een grote sacramentstoren van Hiëronymus, tevens is er een grafmonument voor bv. Dirk Martens).

Prachtige kerk gedeeltelijk in de steigers. Unieke 3d ervaring met de vraag bril over Rubens. 135 treden naar de expo. Top

De kerk wordt momenteel (2019) gerestaureerd. Toch valt er binnen in de kerk veel moois te zien. In de kerk een schilderij van Rubens. Het werk is opgenomen in de insitutentoonstelling. Je vindt er ook het graf van Dirk Martens. Ook zijn er glasramen ui de twintigste eeuw. De kerk is toegankelijk voor rolstoelgebruikers. De preekstoel is monumentaal.
