Recogne-Bastogne German Military Cemetery

Very nice and sad place. It's a shame that so many good people died for a bad cause. Rest in peace.

Lest we forget! Even the German Military Cemeteries are worth a visit. It's just too sad that the men here have to share their graves.

A place of reflection and peace. They fought and died for their country, although the enemy, they deserve this dignified resting place

Beautiful, serene setting that brings the reality of war to distinct reality - no matter what side you fight for....

Very rarely you get to see the other side of the war. Humbling place.

Makes one realize the losses from both sides. These very young German soldiers were only following the orders of their superiors. If you visited the American Cemeteries you should visit this location as well.

Had to visit. Quite stark compared to the American cemetery but the men still gave their lives.

Dark and solemn, a huge difference from American cemeteries. Still dignified, but in a very different way.

Een heel indrukwekkende begraafplaats die ook heel mooi is en goed onderhouden wordt.
Indrukwekkend ook omdat er hier zoveel, méér dan 6.000 mensen liggen. Vaak nog heel jonge mensen die moesten sneuvelen voor hun vaderland.
Sneuvelden voor de vrede, de vrede die er nooit echt helemaal is en dat maakt verdrietig.

Wirklich ein schön gemachter Friedhof zu gedenken an die Deutschen Soldaten die in der Schlacht um Bastogne ihr Leben gelassen haben.

Es sind wirklich beeindruckend viele Gräber es hat genauso das auch immer 6 Soldaten draufstehen pro Grabstein.

Aquí yacen soldados alemanes. Aquí están con sus camaradas y una señal de piedra para seis. Aún viene alguien a poner velas y flores. Y recoge las hojas de otoño. Y siega la hierba que los abriga. Y deja fotos que iluminan el recuerdo en la penumbra... Porque todos pasamos por aquí. Pero nadie se queda para siempre. Hoy dejo un recuerdo por los amigos y enemigos, ya hermanados, hasta saber sus historias, esas que nadie conoce; esas que a nosotros interesa.
