Varna Museum of Modern History

Little museum about the history of Varna between 1978 to WW2. The top floor was like a collection of different shops from that period. But the amazing lady who does the introduction is the best part of the museum. She was great! Thank you so much!

I recommend to visit this museum for guests/travellers and residents who wants to see and understand the social history of Varna from the not very distant past to-day. Built on 3 floors,the entry floor is more a national history display,where the -1 floor is more the craftsmanship and industrial history of the town with many artifacts and ephemera from the days gone by. The upper floor set-up has some neat furniture of the very first hotel,some older restaurant and its furniture,even the menu.Some touristic advertisement and services displayed from the beginning of last century reflecting the tourism and cosmopolitan heritage of Varna. Outside the museum is an English made locomobile with its smaller scaled model inside.The museum staff,curator and guide are very friendly and engaging which makes the tour much more informative. Mark it in your bucket list. No advance reservation or ticketing necessary,get it at entrance.

Very nice place. A very interesting lady curator. The museum is not too big but has interesting exhibits modern times, the upstairs is the best.

Great and small museum to understand Varna history quickly. Max a hour will be enough to read all explainations inside.

Magnificent place! Even though I'm born and raised in Varna, I realized I don't know much about the history of my home town. The staff is super friendly and polite. The lady that was giving us the tour was a great historian. I recommend this place!

There for sure a few spare hours could pass like a moment, with the wonderful support of the great staff.

I was going for a flight and find myself wandering what to do in the next 2 hours before my way to the airport. And then on the map pops up this interesting location.
The rest is history!

Enjoyable and enriching. Gives you a perspective of what the life in early 1900s Varna was. My advice is to visit the Archeological Museum first, then the Ethnographical second and this one as third so you get the whole timeline of Antiquity-Middle Ages-Modern Era history in the right order

The guide made my visit to the museum great and a standout event of my time in Varna. She talked passionately and eloquently about the city's recent past -- the struggles and the successes. She gave me a real appreciation for the city.

If you get to see the big Roman Baths, don't miss the small ones because you'll also miss this wonderfull museum where you can learn all about Bulgarias modern history from the best guide in the country.

Small but we'll curated museum. Very dedicated staff. You will be able to see that Bulgaria was not only rural for the in the years 1890 - 1945 and on.

definitely take the guided tour! our guys was funny, sand very knowledgeable.

if you do this on your own, you'll be in and out in five minutes.

You can find quite interesting species, definitely worth seeing, kids liked it.

Very interesting museum because of nice guide))

The tour guide was friendly and very helpful. The museum it self is in a historical building of Varna. The museum is about the modern history of Varna from their liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878 until 1944.

Small museum but with interesting facts about Varna and very nice local quide. It's totally worth the visit if you want to discover the recent history of Varna :)
