Great place to see history from roman times in Bulgaria. Additional plus is that large part of town is very shadow and pleasant to visit even in hotter time during summer.

Very intresting and beautiful place.Away from the big city, it is ideal for 1 day trip. There are very well preserved columns and stone carvings.

Bulgarian medieval events are absolutely incredible here. Lots of quality handmade crafts at very reasonable prices, excellent shows. Wonderfully intersting roman remains. Cons, not enough facilities inside by way of food and drinks for visitors, definitely bring a picnic or there's a food van but a very limited choice and it's outside the entrance.

A very interested place, a very small Pompeii!. The Roman road you walk along is very unleaval so be careful especially if you have older people or small children. There are some holes with a drop of about 1 or 2 meters to the old Roman sewers, I think they should be roped off.
The whole place is very interesting and well worth a visit. All signs are Bulgarian and English. Its lv6 for entry. The cafe on site was closed. There are people selling some good quality Bulgarian gifts on site. There is a sign pointing to the castle, I walked to it to find a gate on route that's locked! But you can get over the small wall. Not a lot left of the castle but worth a look. There are areas taped of because digging is still being carried out.

this is a beautifully preserved ancient Roman settlement. If you are in Veliko Turnovo, the site makes for an easy half-a-day trip with a car. It is well worthwhile visiting this palce.

Amazing place to visit. They're still busy excavating, so I will come back in a few years to witness the progress.

With every year archeologists are recovering more and more of the ancient city. You can really see how the architects were thinking and how the infrastructure of this small part of the city was created. You can read the story as you walk in English or Bulgarian.
Its maybe a 30-45 minute walk. The nature in spring make it even better.

I spent about 2 and a half hours here. Walking around is very easy though there are big holes in the walkways for the ancient sewage system. The entrance fee is 6 lev for adults. I brought binoculars and got in some good watching of storks and bee eaters. Lots of info cards with English.

A historical site, which offers not only a shift back in time to the Roman era, but also relaxation in the quiet beautiful nature in and around it. There is always a historical giude on site Seats in the shade, as well as a picnic area with a couple of tables and benches make it an all-day-round-with-the-family place.

Nikopolis ad Istrum was a great Trach city, it is very well preserved and history talks to you from every single corner. They stil have a lot to work in order to dig the grateness of it, but it is a wonderful place to visit, relax, learn something, imagine the young females walking between the giant columns...
