Vitosha Nature Park

A beautiful nature reserve that can be easily reached by a cabin lift. To get there, drive to the Simeonovo lift on the ring road. The ride costs 10 euros two way, but it is really worth it. At almost 2000m you can experience the vitosa mountains, the flora and the good air. Especially the Moreni Stones are worth mentioning. There are several hiking routes of different lengths. But you can also just stop by, take a walk and have something to eat and drink. Absolutely recommended if you are in Sofia.

Absolutely love it! I think that is amazing that we have a mountain so close to our capital Sofia. Every place in the park is beautiful, the green nature and the views are breathtaking, it's nice and clean for a relax or a good hike at the weekends. Best place around Sofia!

Wonderful hiking place with a blend of easy and more demanding routes. The views over Sofia are imposing in their scale but also you can see out to the other mountain ranges. Wear good hiking boots and make sure you take a good wind-proof jacket.

I live near the mountain and it is amazing, I go to vitosha every now and then and it's great! If you're in Sofia and want to go on a hike, although it's not the tallest mountain, it's a great place to go hiking at! There are a lot of routes, some easier, some harder!

It's worth the resources to get there. Especially when the weather is nice.
Parking zone is being located at the front part of the Aleko hut. There's a working lift from Simeonovo, so you can enjoy the nature beauties alongside with lift journey.
Bear in mind that you will need some top cover for your and your family, because of the quick cold streams.

It is a must go place, really popular for the locals but as a tourist you should definitely go especially afte you visited parts of the city. This was the second time going to Sofia and it made my experience so much better. The view is amazing, hiking keeps your pulse up. A bit difficult to get to the peaks without help due to kirilic alphabet but with prep you should be able to find online information. My 2nd favorite thing about Sofia (1st thing is the food)

Beautiful mountain, good for both a small walk and for an eight hour expedition. Most paths are relatively well marked, but not all of them, so be careful. Maps.me or a paper map can be used for direction. The weather varies between sunny and hot sometimes in the summer and extreme cold sometimes in the winter. So you may need proper equipment for hiking. The mountain is also very good for skiing and biking. You can even ride a horse there. It has a long list of curious places, so you can plan various different trips.

Amazing nature! Hiking in Vitosha is always an energising experience. Be warned though: the snow during winter gets really high, knee deep and more at times, so if you intend to go during winter - prepare accordingly.

A beautiful place. Its breath taking. Vitosha national park is located in the mountain with the same name. The capital of Bulgaria , Sofia , is located in the foot of it. You can get amazing views of the city from almost every view point. Perfect for a hike or just a weekend getaway.

My favourite mountain, near the city, nice sites for picnics, excellent paths for walking or trekking. There are a lot of places where you can stay for the night.

It's so close to Sofia, that one can visit several of the most famous and beautiful spots there in just a day. The Golden Bridges, The Black Peak, The TV Tower (Kopitoto), Dendrarium and The Boyana Waterfall are a must see.

Super hike, wonderful view. Last 400 Meter to the top gives you a feeling of being a conquered the peak. Enjoy the great kebab served on top of the mountain.

Home mountain. Only 20 min away from Sofia. Night ski slope every night. Crazy bike trails in the summer. Super hikes in the winter and summer.

Bus 66 brings you up a good portion of this mountain and from there you can hike up to the top. Spectacular views at the top. Still some snow in late May. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Loved the experience of hiking up to the peak: Cherni Vrah ! Must visit places in Sofia if you are a nature lover and adventurous person!

Super close to Sofia. Amazing nature, lots of flowers, trees and tracks for you to walk on.
Only downside- lots of people, which is understandable being so close to Sofia.

amazing nature , beautiful view of around,panamera view of forest ,I passed about 12 kilometers by walking ,People were nice and kind almost young people knows English ,everybody brings 🐕 😍😍amazing look ,If you can walk and you enjoy nature It's amazing place .also I found a local restaurant in the way the staff knew English and also very delicious food and also there was a tree the local says it has special power or energy I don't belive such thing by the way the name was BEECH Бук ohh that's a lot for me I wrote in Bulgarian 😁
