I spent time here during St. Joseph's summer Montcalm Heritage Festival. This is a nice museum for a small community to host and is a testament to the type of people living here.

There was information about the beet growers who were very common in this area 50 years ago. It is worth while going to explore the history of the town and the area.

so helpful to help me find information about my ancestors. the outbuildings, village etc are amazing and the campground is quiet, clean and has a shower! Take your family out for the day.

A super museum...so well laid out...displays are well placed and very understandable..
The out buildings are well maintained..
Great place to spend a half day...great day trip for a family outing !!

Altona is a town in southern Manitoba, Canada, about 100 km south-west of Winnipeg and 158 km north of Grand Forks, North Dakota. The population at the 2021 Census was 4,390 residents. Old Altona was founded in 1880 by Plautdietsch-speaking Mennonites from the Russian Empire. It is surrounded by the Municipality of Rhineland.
