Very impressive ficus that is worth the small hike to get there and ok entrance fee to be paid. The forrest is a bit dark so it is a bit difficult to get a perfect picture of yourself and the tree.

Very cool. Saw out first monkeys about four steps into the path.

Very beautiful! The entrance is on a private property. There is a box to put in 1000 colones per person. After you enter the forest there are steps down to the river, it sits lower than the property. So it's not accessible by wheelchair. There are a few benches and a table to have a picnic and when we visited, there were two people gardening. They said they are trying to keep everything in a good condition and that's what the small entrance fee is for.
The tree itself is impressing and there have been a lot of butterflies and some birds.. it was very peaceful..

Entrance to the Ficus tree area, with parking. Fee is 1.000 COL, which is reasonable considering they have to maintain paths, little pick nick area etc. Friendly Tico at the entrance gave us some further details and instructions. Highly recommend :)

Another great site to see and it was free. Supposedly there’s a donation box but we couldn’t find it. It’s on private property but apparently you can go in. The white gate is open, just park outside of it. We were so excited to see our first coatis here! We saw a family of 5. So cute!

The hike is very short. We came in the late afternoon. Lots of shade and could be a bit dark. Still made it for great photos. It’s truly amazing and magical here.

Really unique place to hike down to and hang out for a bit. Drive to google maps location, park outside of gated property (last photo), and walk through open gates, and start of hike will be on your left, with a little sign that says “Raíz”. Pay entrance fee (we did 500 colones per person). The hike is less than 5 minutes, and the trail is very well maintained. There is a nice table to sit at. This activity is pet friendly! We brought our leashed dog, and let her off for a bit to play in the water, only because there was no other people or animal wildlife at the time for her to disturb, and she has good recall. Be respectful of wildlife and others if you bring your pet :)

Super easy to access, really beautiful tree and roots to explore. Guide is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Can even picnic there since there are little tables. It’s $2 entry but free parking and you can spend as much time as you want

It's beautiful, definitely a must-see!

I'm not sure what people are complaining about. We walked through the gated area, paid a donation, and walked through a beautiful trail with stairs and hand rail.

I saw people trying to climb down the side of a hill, not sure where to go or how to get down, just so they didn't have to give a donation? The work they did and the upkeep is worth it. I would be upset if people didn't respect my property too.

Owner is very friendly. Please make a small contribution as he is building a nice path and quaint seating areas to rest, it is his private property and he is kind enough to share this unique, natural treasure. The tree roots themselves are phenomenal and look like a bridge out of Lord of the Rings!

This site is on someone property. The owner has made stairs down, placed gravel so you don’t slip & made small sitting areas. He does ask a small fee… worth it considering you are going onto his property. The Ficus root bridge is really neat to see! We really enjoyed it!

Nice magical place with beautiful ficus tree. Well maintained by owners. This is private property and at the entrance to the path there is little tips box, we did put few dollars in to it, as a thank you for letting us in.

Such an awesome place and you don't need much time. This used to be free but they have built a great trail down to the tree and now charge 500 colones. It's worth it.

Worth a quick stop to see how "life finds a way." I don't know where the trail leads, I think the point is to see the tree.

Very easy, quick hike with rewarding views! The tree was magical. Make sure to bring cash for donations. This is on private property and the owners do a great job keeping it clean. Wander down the creek a little further for cool views of a stone/rock wall.

2usd with parking and bathroom, and a short walk to the tree - the moment we entered the trail we saw two motmots digging holes. It's possible to climb to the middle of the tree and take a picture from below. Fun place!

Wonderful little hiking trail near a small stream to a beautiful tree and view. It's not too tricky to encounter the route if you follow other reviews directions.
Highly recommend this free activity for a quick hike and cool sight!

Beautiful place. Fee is 1000 colones or $2 and there is a parking lot with plenty of space. It's an easy trail, some stairs but easy. There are benches if you want to get some air or just sit and contemplate nature and listen to the sound of the little river. You can also see monkeys playing among the trees, birds and flowers. Nice trail.
