Our guide Dean was AMAZING along with the rest of the crew who put this together. they truly went above and beyond to make this experience special. i dropped my go pro 25ft deep and we couldn’t find it, dean went searching and somehow found it when i gave up all hope.

we had burritos for lunch and they made a vegan option for me which was so yummy, and also gave us fresh fruit. the first spot wasn’t much to explore but we did see a shark and a turtle, the second spot was had a lot of life, we saw turtles, starfish, and lots of corals. though fair warning they were mostly brown/ white, it was still cool to see.

there was some miscommunication when we dropped a sick person off at the island and most of our group got off not realizing that the boat was going to the 2nd spot so they were a little disappointed they didn’t get to dive again, but i think it just happened pretty fast.

i highly recommend religiously applying sunscreen(reef safe), i applied it twice through the whole trip and i’m still BURNT. the sun on the ocean is no joke. i also recommend bringing nausea meds, pain killers, and some water shoes. the sand gets scorching hot on the beach at the island and the shells are pretty rough.

i really recommend this place and i was thrilled at the care the guides took to make sure everyone had a good time. you can tell they really love their jobs.

Amazing team (Tour guide chef, tour guide, captain and two additional guides).
Breakfast and clear instructions given at the beginning. 1h boat drive to snorkeling location - we saw whales on the way. Of course the boat stopped and we were able to take a look at them. Then snorkeling: we saw many turtles, sharkes, sting rays and some fish. The tour is well organized and againg the team is amazing. Would recommend. You are back at 1.30 pm at the beach, where you can stay if you want.

*Great team* We not only saw humpback whals and Dolphins, we even had the chance of hearing them when taking a dipp in the ocean from the boat. Very knowledgeable guide but also very funny & nice. Great price and I highly recommend booking a tour with them (we booked the combo tour). Also nice: The guide showed us more land animals on the parking lot :).

We went on the whale and dolphin tour. Risto was an excellent tour guide, he had loads of knowledge and made sure everyone was happy and comfortable. Bahia Adventures is a proper outfit with excellent facilities, we would highly recommend booking with them.

I joined the Bahia Aventuras team for a great day at sea on their combination tour from Marina Ballena Park at Uvita. I took a taxi from the nearby La Cusinga Ecolodge which was about a ten-minute drive. But when I arrived I noticed that most of the guests had driven to the Bahia office in their own personal vehicles. Upon arriving, I met “Risto” our group leader for the day. He welcomed me and directed me into the seating area where I was served my choice of beverage (fruit juice or water) and snacks (bananas, coconut cookies, and cakes) while we waited for everyone to arrive. After a brief overview of what our day would entail, Risto directed everyone to line up their cars outside the office and follow his car down to the beach (I hopped a ride with the staff).

Once at the beach we walked down to the boat, carefully avoiding any falling coconuts and placing our valuables inside his dry bag. Once all aboard, we were off for the first third of our itinerary: spotting whales. It only took about ten minutes before we spotted a moma humpback with her newborn. The next forty-five minutes or so we ogled the pair as they popped up to the surface every five or so minutes. The experience wasn’t quite as exciting as I’d hyped myself up for given that the mother and child pair only ever exposed their back fins and flippers above the water. For the iconic breaching-the-surface photos you see in magazines, I think we needed to find some males looking to breed. But still, to be within twenty feet of such massive and majestic creatures was still kind of cool. And Risto kept reiterating the fact that 90% of the moma’s body was hidden beneath the waves and that if we truly could see how massive she was we’d probably be frightened. He eagerly answered any questions about the whales or the local area in general. Despite our (and several other boats) hovering the pair for so long, Risto assured us that we weren’t disturbing them and that if we in fact were she’d let us know by leaving. I did like the fact that after about forty minutes he insisted that we depart out of respect for local practice of limiting whale encounters to about thirty minutes, to give the creatures a break from human contact. So we were off to the second part of our activity: leisure swim.

Because it was the middle of the rainy season (August), the normal snorkeling activity was substituted for just a casual swim in the Pacific Ocean (the visibility of the water would probably not have been good, or so I guess was the rationale). It didn’t matter, it seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves in the water. As we boarded the boat after the swim, we were each given individual servings of fruit (watermelon, mango, and pineapple) to help us recharge after being out in the saltwater and sunshine. We then proceeded to the final leg of our itinerary which included a ride along the coast back to the beach, stopping along the way to admire different parts of the landscape including the beach where they filmed the final scene from Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto (when the Spaniards arrive in boats and stun the exhausted and wounded Rudy Youngblood’s Jaguar Paw.).

A note of caution while you’re on the boat: hold on to your hats! I had made it through most of the day just fine wearing my white Under Armour cap, but on the ride back one unlucky gust of wind whipped it right off my head and into the sea. It's also a wet landing when getting in and out of the boat from the beach, so prepare to carry your shoes or else do what I did and just wear sandals (note: flip flops will still have to be taken off).

Overall, the day was pretty nice. Risto and his team were very warm and welcoming and consistently checked in with everyone throughout the day to make sure we were happy and feeling okay. They seem intent on making sure that everybody is having a great time (even solo travelers like me). They even recommended some nice places to eat lunch as we departed, going so far as to invite us all to accompany them to their favorite spot.

Thanks again Risto and Bahia team!

We saw a whale! Pretty good place with friendly guide and crew. The snorkelling was a bust - would've enjoyed a better spot for that.

We did the Corcovado Tour with Bahia Aventuras and couldn’t recommend more! The crew was nice and everything was safe - to enter the boat and exit is difficult because it is on the sea directly so you will get wet but the rest of the trip was nice!
We saw a lot of animals and the guide was really nice and helpful
The food was also good for lunch

Fantastic fast boat trip but the most amazing highlight was a humpback whale slapping its tail and then pectoral fin. Well done to the crew for spotting this! Great lunch and nature trail thrown in.

We did the snorkelling tour to Isla del Cano with Dean and the Bahia Adventures crew.
Wonderful day - very professional, safe, great service and attention.

Gave you breakfast at office then lift down to get on boat at the national park.

Boat has very good sun shelter and comfy seats as journey is 80 minutes at speed.

Saw turtles on the way to first site in a picturesque bay.
Snorkels, fins, masks all provided and good quality.
They had 2 people on boat + 2 in water at all times so felt safe. Dean gave excellent tour of coral reef and underwater wildlife - got to swim alongside a giant turtle + eels, wide range of fish (puffers for example).
Had a break between snorkels and had loads of fresh fruit and banana cake.
Estimate in water for about 2 hrs in total. Good visibility and good quality reef - felt well protected from exploitation etc.

Whilst having lunch on board boat (burritos) - the team heard that a whale and baby had been spotted near Uvita so we skipped the tour of Island and got amazing bonus of seeing whales.
Brilliant day - good value for money given quality of service and experience $150 per person.
Thoroughly recommended.

We did the Whale Ballena Park Combination tour this morning. What a fantastic journey it was ! 3 hours in the heart of the ocean. We saw whales, turtles, dolphins and birds !
The team is awesome, from the meeting point to the boat everything was perfect. This Tour is the Tour to do. Do not hesitate a minute. Big thank you to the team and special thank you to Ramon ! (My wife got seasick and he did everything to help her, even taking photos and videos of whales for her). May god bless you all.
Pura vida !

Did an "inshore" fishing excursion with Ramon and crew. Wonderful experience. We ended up quite a ways offshore. Caught a couple of mackerel and a couple of Mahi Mahi.

We had a great whale watching experience. We saw 2 humpback whales up close, lots of birds, and we enjoyed seeing the coast and having a chance to go for a swim. The crew were helpful and knowledgeable, and they were great at explaining things to the kids.

Amazing!! Our guide was Risto and he was absolutely phenomenal! We were met with drinks and food and everyone was super friendly. Then we went down to the beach and got on the boats - Risto was so friendly and made everyone feel at home! Julia and Johnny were also fantastic on the boat! Risto asked what we preferred to do first in our group of 21 and we all wanted to see whales. He then made sure we went straight to the best place to see them, and we saw three humpback whales!! Risto had loads of information and was so attentive! We were able to swim in the ocean and had cold fruit and drinks on the boat. Overall would thoroughly recommend this to anyone (except people who get easily seasick) and we all had a magical day :))

We had an excellent time on Bahia Adventures' combination tour. Everything ran like clockwork, we saw whales, snorkeled and saw the whole coast of the national park. They even have us a nice breakfast!

I went to Corcovado on the 7am day trip. Unreal. It's an adventure for explorers. National geographic level stuff. The boat ride there we saw hump back whales. Hiking there is the actual jungle. Our guide knew just about every scientific name to each plant and animal we saw. And we saw a lot of wildlife! Even a whale carcass on the beach. I'll never forget it. I'd do it again.

Professionally led tour. Great, informative friendly guide and team. Comfy boat seats. We were lucky to see a mother, her calf and dolphins. Not bad for my first trip to beautiful CR! I’ll be booking other types tours with B.A. next visit to Uvita.

We used Bahia Aventuras for snorkeling trip to Cano Island. The tour guides including Dean and and Michael were INCREDIBLE! They made the trip so memorable for all of us! We had 17 people on our tour (wish we had fewer people on the tour) but it all worked out and we really connected with another couple and exchanged emails….which I had put the wrong email address in my phone and I contacted Bahia and they went over and above to find the correct email. We went on a day that was cloudy and rainy…the rain made it cold but the ocean water was warm! The second place we snorkeled was more clear and we saw parrot fish, puffer fish, 2 big turtles, and all sorts of other colorful fish and beautiful coral! The guides even took the cameras from those that had them to go down and take pics! The absolute highlight of the entire trip was SEEING 5-6 WHALES UP CLOSE! It was a magical thing seeing these huge whales and was a bucket list item for me!!! IT WAS AMAZING AND MAGICAL!! The captain was an expert driver that maneuvered the boat perfectly over the rough waves and he followed the whales for all of our enjoyment for probably 45 minutes to 1 hour! They fed us soooo much food during the trip and afterwards on the beach!! The chicken and rice and veggies tasted wonderful! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bahia Aventuras for any tours they offer…staff was professional and fun and experts at what they do!
