Quepos Tackle Shop

I did every tackle shop in San Jose and I could not find specialized crimping end-tackle stuff... They had it! Very nice shop, best I came across in CR yet...

I am disappointed to put up this review but I loath being cheated and hope this prevents someone else making the same mistake. Was in the shop few days ago, bought a rod and some tackle but went back yesterday to purchase a lighter rod. Was shown a new Daiwa fibre carbon rod as though it had just been invented (yep, that should have told me something, been buying carbon fibre rods since the 80s!) . Was told this was such new stock that it wasn't on their stock list, charged me $90. I know my tackle, I joked that it was probably only worth $60 but she insisted it was the latest. She should have realised I'd check. Daiwa state it should be between $45-$54. What annoys me more is that I was prepared to give the rod's back to her, free to sell when I leave Costa Rica in a couple of weeks. She said she would give them away to some poor person. I intend to set up a complaint's website,, anyone else having a problem can contact me and I'll post plus with my other contacts we can refer you to other shops

The old American lady in the shop was drinking alcohol whilst working and tried to over charge me $200 thinking I couldn’t understand the Spanish she was speaking with her staff. She then proceeded to take my car key which was on the counter, I searched the store for around an hour and the key mysteriously turn up once we had left to have a lock smith open the car, which cost me $50. Terrible service and a terrible person. I hope you get what is coming to you.
