Bird Paradise Tours Mindo

Birdwatching with Sandra was an amazing experience! We did a full-day tour and got to see many beautiful birds. Sandra is amazingly good at spotting and identifying them (as well as mimicking their calls!), and she sent us a complete list of all the birds we saw after the tour, which was a very nice touch. Most recommended!

We had an amazing experience bird watching with Sandy and driver David! We booked the evening before and were lucky that she was available. They picked us up from our hotel at 6 am in a lovely modern van. We were a group of 4 and she provided us each with excellent birding binoculars and she also brought along a monocular. We drove and stopped along the way when Sandy heard or saw anything cool.

After about 1.5 we stopped for an excellent breakfast, complete with cheese sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea and the most amazing homemade jam.

Sandy is an amazing guide who was patient and insistent that everyone could spot all of her sightings. She recorded all of the species we saw and sent them to us along with all of the high quality pictures she took.

They returned us to our hotel around 10 am which is the perfect length excursion. We paid $140 total and it was a well worth experience for such a high quality guide.

We were a group of three bird-spotting with Sandra and David. None of us are super crazy about birds, but when you are in Mindo you don’t want to miss experiencing the large variety of birds. Sandra and David picked us up at 6:00am at our hostel and we went up towards the waterfalls in their comfortable car. Sandra has an impeccable knowledge of all the birds and can spot them (and direct her monocular) in a matter of seconds. She speaks super good English and can explain much more than just the birds. all the attached pictures were taken with my phone through her monocular. Although I carry a decent camera, I didn’t even bother taking it out, as the birds were way better to see and photograph through the monocular. We were each given binoculars to see the birds as well. The breakfast Sandra and David offered us was delicious: fruit salad, toast with cheese, coffee, lemon tea, jam, cereal, Joghurt. Not at all what you would expect on a morning birding tour…

We booked this tour the evening before by walking into the Bird paradise Tours office on the Main Street.

My brother and I had a tour with sandy after receiving many recommendations about her, but nothing prepared us for the incredible experience that it was eventually.
Sandy is nice and funny woman, definitely professional in all related to birds. Although we are not birds lovers in particular, she made us chase the trees with our binoculars and her telescope and get exited with every bird we see.
Also, during the tour we met another group of birds watching and Sandy bit the other guide without any problem. She detected all the birds, even if they camouflage completely in just few seconds.
The whole tour was with great atmosphere (and great food that she made herself) and definitely was worth the money and the experience.

We had an excellent bird watching tour! We have never done something like this before but after reading recommendations on Google, we decided to go for it. It was a very engaging experience and we quickly got into it and were eager to spot different kinds of birds. We each got a pair of binoculars and our guide, Bryan, carried a telescope with which he spotted several species of birds for us. The tour also included a very nice breakfast at a beautiful view point of the cloud forest.
One thing that bothered us a bit at the start was that we specifically made sure beforehand that Sandy was going to be our guide since we read such great things about her, but instead it was her son Bryan. He was very knowledgeable and we did have a great experience nevertheless :)

So it turns out the guy doesn’t actually speak English despite advertising they speak English, although overall it was a good experience. They had lots of options for activities and had taxis for us that came so fast it’s like it was waiting for us the entire time. Front desk also had a phone that could translate into English which was nice

Bird watching was great, Sandra knew her stuff and had an incredible eye for birds. We saw more birds in this outing than we did for 4 days in the Amazon. Highly recommended even if you don’t like bird watching. Also the breakfast was great!

We had an amazing tour with Bryan and Jonathan this week. They were very friendly, helpful and super knowledgeable. We saw a lot of beautiful birds and had a great morning. We didn't have prior knowledge before going on this tour but despite that it was a wonderful experience! Both guys were very enthusiastic and passionate. We cannot recommend this experience enough!

I had a really fun and pleasant experience with Sandra and her driver. I did the 4 hour bird-watching tour and she is excellent at spotting birds and has a lot of knowledge! I wouldn't have noticed them on my own for sure. It was amazing to see the birds up close in full detail thanks to Sandras telescope and our binocolaurs. Also she took some great pictures during the tour.

This is a quite unusual review. We had a tour booked with Sandra and Bird Paradise, which we couldn’t attend because the day before some of our valuables were stolen from a Quito to Mindo bus. Sandra - with her perfect English - was incredibly willing to help, something we appreciated a lot and gave us some trust in people back. Considering that also the actual tours are highly rated, I can only thank and recommend her.

I thoroughly enjoyed our bird watching tour. Sandra was so knowledgeable and showed us so many birds! The entire process was super easy with pick up from our hostel, binoculars for each person (that works with glasses!), delicious breakfast and a big telescope for taking pictures and lining up really clear pictures of the birds. I would 100% recommend!

We took the bird watching tour with Bird Paradise Tours and it was amazing. Never had such experience before.
Our guides were Brian and Sandra. They were very professional in all related to birds. I do not know how they spotted all the birds, but they did. It was fun morning (from 6AM) to spend with them. Feom the moment we started, we felt the energy and enthusiasm.
The breakfast during the tour was unique, as we were in the forest, seeing the birds and having good coffee and food.

We did a half-day birding tour with Sandra. She was incredible! Her ability to spot birds was amazing and her knowledge was expansive. We saw a large variety of birds that we would never spotted on our own. She also provided us with photos and a bird checklist.

My two friends and I took a morning bird tour from Paradise Tours and it was excellent. Sandra, the owner, really knows her stuff. At two of the places we stopped there were several other guides with their clients. The other guides were asking her questions and deferring to her about information. She was clearly the best guide there. She is also very enthusiastic and fun to be with. The tours here may be more expensive but they are worth the price.

Mindo Bird of Paradise Tours provided excellent guiding and references for all the exciting things to do in Mindo. I took a birdwatching tour with the owner, Sandy Patino, who I consider to be one of the best guides I've known, getting our eyes on numerous species of fancy birds including woodpeckers, toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, trogons, and more. I also enjoyed exploring the local butterfly and orchid gardens, hikes, waterfalls, chocolate tours, and restaurants, all with Sandy's excellent advice.

We had a great tour with Sandra:) she showed us many different bird species and we took some great pictures with her help! She also seemed like having so much fun herself and being very enthusiastic:) we would definitely recommend doing a tour with her!

Donny was great - he's a professional at his work - from calling the birds in to noticing the smallest shifts in the landscape that indicate a bird has arrived! We had a nice snack mid-tour and great communication the whole time - (English and Spanish).

We did a bird tour with Sandy and it was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions (not just about birds bur also about ecuador!) Breakfast was amazing and we saw so many birds. Transport was right on time and we recieved lots of photos after. Would defo reccomend if you are in Mindo

Had a very nice morning tour with Sandra, saw lots of interesting birds and got a lot of good photos plus a list at the end of the ones we had seen!

We went on a 4 hour bird watching tour and loved it. Sandra picked us up from our hostel and within minutes we were spotting all kinds of birds. She provides high quality binoculars for everyone and with her telescope we could see the birds up close. With the telescope we could also take some really good pictures. Halfway during the tour we got a really nice breakfast & coffee.
