HEALTH CENTER - Puerto Villamil

Despite being mostly staffed by newly-trained medics and having only basic supplies, the attention here was swift, careful and effective. If you are a foreigner looking for medical attention on Isabela, remember where you are, and try to cooperate as much as possible. This little medical centre is a god-send for those who need it.

We visited the Health Center when my wife needed help with her hand.

The medical staff: nurse and doctor were very friendly, spoke good English, took all needed info, in 5 min did an X-ray, showed us results explaining that nothing serious has happened, provided free bandage and painkiller.
And a biggest surprise for us was that they didn't charge us a penny for all services.

I wish we'd had something similar in Canada.

My son broke his arm while on the island. Although not having an x-ray they did a first diagnosis and put a temporary cast on the arm, so we could go to the better equipped medical center on Santa Cruz the next day. We simply walked straight into the emergency ward and they were super kind and fluent in English. The next morning they gave us all documents we needed for the next doctor in Puerto Ayora and even gave us a ride to the port in and ambulance.
