Quite a nice Basecamp. Sheltered with tents and thick sleeping mats. The toilet is located uphill on a steep incline and as such is not really used much. Beautiful views if the weather is on your side. Honestly don't think you need to take the additional early morning hike up to the viewpoint, the view is just as good from here

The best experience with soy!!! I was originally going to go with OX but so glad I didn’t. Soy were competitively priced, easy to contact and book, good food at every stop and the guides were happy and friendly. The experience was unforgettable and because of the position of base camp you can see fuego erupt all night from the base camp!!!! It was incredible. I hired someone to carry my bag up because I was very ill the days leading up to the hike and then carried it myself back down and it was fine. The best experience of my trip, thanks to soy tours such a good company!

Very unique experience due to how the trail was so extremely hard (for us not very fit travelers) climbing up and mentally difficult, thus it is definitely worth as a part of the whole trip. The guides were friendly and very responsible, the foods nice and comforting!

Thanks for the great tour.
Friendly and responsible guides. Delicious food. Clean and confortable tents / sleeping bags. Free rental of warm clothes. (It would be great if you would rent propper hiking sticks, too - not just wood sticks). Free beer at the end.
Good tour for people of all ages.

- extra hike to el fuego possible
- sunrise hike to the top of acatenango
- one of two camps at the east side (great way up + perfect view of the lava)

Unreal experience, worth hiking up five hours to see the volcano erupting all night! Trust me! The actual base is great, they had the tents set up when we got there. We had a beautiful sunset just a ten minute hike.

Incredible viewpoint - erupting volcano to one side and sun dancing over the clouds to the other. Otherworldly sunset. Nice local staff on the tour and the food they served was more than reasonable given that its camping. Plenty of space around the much-needed campfire which kept going all evening.

Best tour we had in Guatemala. The guides were brilliant and ensured everyone was able to at their own pace. Base camp was comfy and to keep warm you could borrow clouthes, have a hot chocolate and two warm meals. Would defo recommend!

I recently did the 2 day Acatenango hike with Elmer and his staff and it was great. They have free equipment for you to use if you did not bring warm clothes for the mountain, and you can also rent a walking stick or backpack if you need those as well. I was moving slower than the other hikers in my group and Ameriko, my guide let me set my own pace. When we arrived at the campsite, there was a hot fire to warm by and your tent and lodge were already set up with your sleeping bag. Other guides would arrive with hot meals for both dinner and breakfast. We woke early to do the last 1 hour climb to the top so that we could see the eruptions of Volcan De Fuego and the sunrise. I recommend this climbing company and the price was very good as well. Very windy at the top.

let's say, my life has changed positively after this experience. let's talk about Soy Tour first, Elmer and his crew were beyond professional, friendly and help and welcoming and.... upon arrival, we offered coffee, tea and water. Elmer walked us through the trip details and made sure we are beyond comfortable. I was offered a good quality clean winter jacket, gloves and hat. Elmer then convinced me to change my backpack to the hiking one, which he offered as well. ALL FOR FREE. and that was a game changer.

Claros, our tour guide was funny, patient, professional and helpful during the hike, welcoming and an amazing assistant during our stay there.

The tents were perfectly located in the mountain and firepit was ready upon arrival. The food was beyond delicious and beyond expectations for all meals and snacks, even hot chocolate.

The journey was worth and highly recommended. much love

The best crew i have ever had, i feel super safe with them.
The camp is located in the view point so you can see every eruption. They serve really good meals, hot chocolate and also a typical gwatemala liqour! Two guides was walking with us so everyone could go at their own pace, they are always wait for the last persons.

Great tour company to hike the Acatenango with. I was worried about being cold up top, but it wasn't a problem as they use great quality gear. Meals were pretty good. Guides were really nice and helped me out when I wasn't feeling well. Best of all, the views from the basecamp are fantastic!
