Konoba Batana

This konoba was highly recommended by a lovely lady from one of the shops just around the corner. The way she beautifully described the ethos and the way the chef serves the tuna steak made our mouth watering. And she did not underpromise - this is the “simply” the best tuna steak we have ever enjoyed so far. It is so juicy but so incredible tender you almost want to only use your fingers to gently pull it apart. - as if it was caught just a few ours ago. The waiter confirmed, he would serve nothing else but fresh quality. 😍
We cannot wait to come back!!!

We have been for a month, eating in some great places in London, Paris, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Mostar, but tonight’s dinner was easily the best! Chef Vinko prepared just caught Adriatic tuna grilled along with (also) grilled zucchini and salad made of butter lettuce just picked out of the garden (in front of our very eyes)!!!! The desert was semi fredo with almonds, salted caramel syrup, strawberries… my vocabulary is very poor to describe this poetry in my mouth!
The stuff is friendly, speak few languages, helpful, and readily available to answer all our questions. Our waiter was Vjeko, very knowledgeable and amazing young man.
Tavern Batana is the place that we will always go back, bring all of our friends to, and recommend to everyone who ask where to eat.
We give 5 stars, just because they don’t offer more than that!!!!
The wine was house white, aperitif was carob liquor and digestive was cherry liquor.

One of the best food we have had in Croatia. Short menu but excellent quality. Good service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant 👌.

I have actually been here many years ago with my wife. It was truly memorable. With COVID lockdown lifted, we decided to come back. The food here is fantastic. Truly sublime. The food outshined many many other rated "Michelin Star" restaurants. Also, a quick note about the staff and chef; wonderful people. The chef came out to talk to us and made us feel welcome. If ever you find yourself on the Dalmatian coast, especially on this gem of an island, Hvar. Come and see for yourself why the Romans fell in love.

If you want to experience passionate hospitality, phenomenal food and a family run restaurant, then this is the place for you.

Set in a gorgeous little building, the waitress offered a tour and to show the food being made! The truffle pasta was breathtaking!

I cannot recommend this place enough, it’s up the streets from the main promenade and so worth it!

100% recommend this spot. A local recommended it to us. Super good pasta (we tried truffle pasta and basil pesto) and beef fillets. You can tell the quality of everything, everyone loved their dishes. We had slow service, but we were a group of 8. The staff was awesome and super nice! Again, highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely sensational. We had the tuna fish filet and cevapici with fries. Amazing flavor, nice texture. Then the mouse chocolate dessert sent me to heaven. The environment was quiet and romantic. The house wine was perfect and the restaurant also surprised us with perfect aperitifs. Must go! You will be in a dream like state.

I had the salmon with sweet potato and truffle sauce. It was legitimately one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. Highly recommended. A little pricey but definitely worth it.

We walked up around 7:30 on Sunday without a reservation and they sat us immediately. The shrimp w/pasta and tuna steak were amazing a fresh. It was our last night in town and they gave us Rakija to celebrate.

Wow! Best meal of our two week Croatia vacation. Everything was perfect from start to finish and all six of us agreed this was the best food/drinks and service we had anywhere in Croatia. I can't recommend this lovely little restaurant enough. Note that you definitely should make a reservation (cozy) and give yourself a few minutes extra to find it as they aren't on the busier touristy waterfront (and clearly they try harder to earn repeat business as a result). Recommend the tuna, the penne-like local pasta, and the risotto. Hvala Konoba Batana!!

The food was excellent with authentic taste of fresh herbs and really lovely presented by a chef who cooks all the food by himself. The ambience and the staff are more than one could expect from such a small restaurant. I really do recommend the place while visiting Stari Grad.

Great little place in a narrow street of Stari Grad. It looks run by a family (not sure) and it has a great atmosphere. The food was really tasty. We let ourself be influenced by the reviews and asked for the anchovies, the pesto pasta and the truffle pasta, we really enjoyed our meal. The place was a little bit crowded and we had a quite long wait, it was some kind of festivity in town so it feels normal. We'd recommend this place.

Truly a top notch restaurant. Both of us were very happy with the calm relaxing ambiance and the superb service. One can tell that they care about the customer. The food is excellent, truly delicious: we both had beef and it was prepared as desired, under medium coupled with moist polenta. Nothing was over-salted. 5 stars in all aspects.

It's fantastic experience to dine in konoba Batana, we ordered the truffle pasta and the tuna steak, both the mains turned out to be excellent, it's probably the best tuna steak I ever have!

If you're snotty and looking for a tourist trap, this isn't for you. If you're allergic to phenomenal food, served to you by a beautiful couple... Don't go here.

If, however, you want your expectations far exceeded in a quiet, off the beaten path climate, and feel like you're part of the family... This just might be your spot.

If I didn't have to leave, we would've eaten here every night. I even had to scoot my chair in... to let an old man walk by on his scooter.

Great food, very kind owner and servers and overall great location and experience.

Also the best rakija you will drink anywhere.

I arrived here in agony having just cracked a rib on the town square. Don’t really remember my meal, but I do remember the amazing medical attention I received from the owner, staff, and local customers. SIX STARS for SERVICE!!
