Family owned restaurant, big portion, good price. We had beef soup, and octopus. I feel lucky to find this place as a tourist. If I could stay longer on this island, I would come here everyday 😆😆😆

We spent the day wine tasting on the island of Korčula and there we met another American couple who recommended if we like octopus a family run restaurant a 10 minute walk outside of the main Hvar area.

I like octopus, but I LOVED this!!! Never have I had octopus with this perfect of a texture and beautiful of a flavor. It came in a stew with potatoes carrots, onions, and garlic.

We drank their house red, also lovely! I honestly wish this place was by my home. I want to plan a trip back to Croatia and Hvar just to come here again.

Can’t recommend enough. The food, the service, the simple patio under the olive trees were perfect! What a great dinner for our last night in Hvar.

Hey, I just had to share how awesome that lunch at the place was! As soon as I walked in, I felt a great vibe, and the service was seriously on point – super attentive.

And let's talk about the food, oh my goodness! They had this variety of dishes, from classics to some unique ones that totally blew my mind. You could tell the ingredients were top-notch, and the way they plated the food was just fantastic.

I loved how they combined flavors, it was like each dish had this special touch from someone who really knows their way around a kitchen.

And the team there, they're all about the details, always checking in to make sure everything's going smoothly. That really made the whole lunch experience stand out.

So, bottom line, that lunch at the place was incredible! I totally recommend it for anyone looking to have something delicious, bursting with flavor, and with an awesome atmosphere

We came here for dinner and it was amazing. Best food we had in Croatia. They cooked our meat and octopus for hours. It was beyond delicious. They house wine was also affordable and not bad!

Take a short walk from the city centre and come visit this very hospitable bistro. Delicious traditional food at an affordable price. Food offers are limited and vary by day, but because of that everything you get is freshly prepared. During off-season no reservation is needed, even for a bigger group. Overall, a nice cozy, local restaurant.

We went for dinner after seeing the incredible reviews online, and my goodness they weren’t wrong. Although not directly in the centre of Hvar Town, the short walk was so worth it for this incredible feast.

For dinner you have a simple choice of two items: meat or octopus, and being by the sea it had to be the octopus. Slow cooked for 2 and a half hours, the octopus was insanely tender, and the stew, full of potatoes and other veggies was ridiculously tasty. It was a great sized portion, and came with salad, and bread for mopping up the sauce.

With local house wine for €15 a litre, the entire meal was a total steal, and I think perhaps our best culinary experience on the island.

Big time recommendation!!

We went here two nights in a row, and the only reason we did not go the 3rd was because they were closed for an event.
The food is UNREAL!!! One night we walked in without reservations and despite the limited menu we're blown away. We came back a second night for the veal peka and it was amazing.
To compare to the main square... prices are cheaper, meal 10x better, traditional croatian cuisine, and they treat you like family. Vladko thank you, thank you, thank you. The environment and your food is second to none and i highly recommend everyone go the 10 minute walk from the Harbour and experience this place. You will not regret it.

Wonderful place run by families ! Amazing food and kind service. Home made starters are delicious (cheese and meat selection). Local Lamb or Octopus peka is a must but you have to book in advance. We feel like home and we will definitely come back next year

We called the day before (May 29, 2024) to reserve the dish called Peka (65 euros). We had the veal peka but you can also order the lamb or octopus version. There was two of us and we couldn’t finish it. The peka was fantastic and the service was also exceptional!

Very local spot with dishes (18-23 euros) that changes daily. Only the peka had to be reserved in advance. Vlado was our server and he and his brothers run the restaurant. You can see that he cares.

The olive oil, vinegar, potatoes, and other ingredients were grown or made in house. It was a 9 min walk from the town and well worth it!

They also take credit card so that is a plus!

We were recommended this lovely family-run restaurant by someone we met in our previous accommodation and it did not disappoint! We booked ahead to have the Octopus Peka which was €70 for 2 people and it was very tender and tasty, with vegetables and potatoes, plenty for two people especially as it came with bread. Vlado was so friendly and hospitable and really made the whole meal perfect - we would come back again if we were staying here longer!

It’s the perfect place to try local Croatian food, in a wonderful climate under olive trees. The armosphere is great and very peacful. In addition to the dishes from the menu, we were treated to home-made specialties. The service is friendly and very caring. It was an honor to eat so well with you. Thank you!

We’ve been to several different restaurants in Croatia, including a number of fine dining and Michelin guide restaurants, and this was our favorite meal during our entire trip - incredible food, service, ambience and overall amazing value. We ordered the octopus peka for two, which needs to be ordered a few hours in advance because they cook it for 2-3 hours. The octopus was delicious, very tender and the dish had tons of flavor. The family catches the octopus themselves, which we thought was very cool. My husband also couldn’t stop raving about the potatoes in the peka - they were the best potatoes he’s ever had (which is saying something for someone from the UK)! The meal also included a salad and some traditional cinnamon sugar almonds to finish. The vegetables are picked fresh from their garden - we actually saw someone picking the cherry tomatoes that went into our salad. Very attentive service as well, the brother who served us took the time to walk through the meal and explain how they cooked it. He was very enjoyable to talk to, and he frequently stopped by to ask how the meal was going, bring extra bread, drinks, etc. The restaurant is a far cry from the typical tourist traps in Hvar. It’s an easy 10 min walk from the town center but felt very off the beaten path and local. Overall, unbelievable value and a very special experience. We would recommend this to everyone.

Accepts credit cards.

Highly recommend anyone visiting Hvar to try Bistro Ero. Don't waste your time with the overpriced and average quality restaurants you find in the main area of town. We came here twice in one day we loved it so much. For lunch we had the daily specials of veal with pasta, and beef with rice. Both were incredibly tasty, large portions and a great price (~60kn). We then came back in the evening for veal Peka (you need to order at least 2-3hours beforehand due to the cooking time). This was by far the best meal we had in our entire Croatia trip - so much flavour and the meat melts in your mouth. I wish I could eat this meal every day! To top it off the service was brilliant. An absolute must visit in Hvar!

Bit difficult to walk to (no pavements for the most part), but totally worth it.

Top notch service, lovely atmosphere - especially when the sun had set, the whole place felt exremely homely.

The food and wine were delicious. The octopus peka is definitely enough for two, no need for a starter!

You will need to reserve a table and also let them know 3 hours in advance if you want the peka (there are plenty of other options on the menu, if 🐙 is not for you though)

Wow. I don’t really have words to describe how amazing this restaurant experience was. Vlado was so kind and had great recommendations. We got a mixed meat bbq plate, grilled veggies, and salad, and a bottle of wine all for €48 total. The meat was so tender and well seasoned, and there enough to feed 4 (we were only 3 and couldn’t eat it all!). Would love to go back and have Peka, but you have to reserve at least 6 hours in advance for the preparation of the dish. I have absolutely no cons about this restaurant <3

Lovely place for a meal. Delicious fresh food, the staff are so kind and friendly, the atmosphere was bliss. 10/10 would return. I advise calling them and letting you know if you want one of their specific dishes so they are able to prepare it the day before you dine.
