Wonderful place for 2-3 hours hiking from Preco port.
The way is quite doable even for beginners, asphalt road. Two rest points with benches and tables. But take more water than you planned, there is no possibility to get it on a way!
The place is abandoned, but the views are worth it for climbing there.

If you are at the island, be sure to visit and explore. Views are amazing, be aware of loose rocks! Use bike or walk, or get by car. Take some long lens if you have for the camera! Views from Zadar to all the islands around Ugljan can be seen, even farther if clean air and no moisture conditions are present. Enjoy!

Truly an awesome place to visit if you're fancying a hike. The views are incredible in all directions and the fort itself is a really interesting place to explore!

Extraordinary view from Velebit to Dugi otok, and the whole Zadar. Mind your step! Be up there for the sun set, it is picturesque. Take a flash light if you walk there. The road is steep and windy, the parking place up there is small. If by car, the road is worst when you turn up there from the main road, but then it gets better.

Place is ruined, which is a shame for such a historic place. The walk or drive from nearby town is quite short, but steep.

Views are absolutely incredible, a 360 degree angle on all the surrounding islands, towns amd the sea. Recommend for a sunset or sunrise viewing.

Local government really should do something about this place or at least secure is somehow for safety.

If you've got the time and endurance hiking to the fort is an unforgettable experience! Walking the island and seeing crumbling walls and olive gardens is a once in a lifetime experience, and finally getting to the fort after so much walking feels like you completed a mini odyssey, and then seeing the island from the ramparts of the ancient Byzantine fortification is an absolute treat.

A most spectacular view of the island and a remarkable hike it took to get there. We used AllTrails to make our way towards the Fortress and upon arrival we were greeted by a truly beautiful view of the island, Zadar and the Adriatic. It should be noted that some of the trails were a little overgrown however not anything remotely impossible to traverse. The Fortress itself is, put simply, underdeveloped in terms of accessibility, however if you own a decent pair of shoes it is no issue at all. Also this means that the hike and the consequent rest at the Fortress, was the first time during my trip to Zadar where I felt I had escaped all the touristy cr*p of which there is plenty at the beaches and in the city. So I can highly recommend it. Also the fairy trip to the island was nice. By taking the trip via the harbour rather than the city centre, there was a larger deck on the ferry from which you could enjoy the ride.

Great place for both view, exercise (to climb up there), or history. Beautiful view of Zadar archipelago.

If you want to see the most amazing views of the island, that is THE place! We climbed there by foot through the little paths in the mountains, it was hard with the heat but the views are absolutely amazing, we were astonished by the beauty of the island and surrounding islands! See for yourself in the pictures, it's really worth it!

Best view point in Ugljan island all around views and nice relaxing place in old fortress walls with good and free access. Nice for hiking in evening (too hot in summer day time I think) but also by car there us good asfalt road to the top.

The views are stunning what makes the hike really rewarding. I took a bike rented in Preko. It was hard, with moments where I needed to walk but manageable. Going down was pure fun though. Remember to take some water with you as there are no facilities at all.

an easily accessible vantage point, on the peak is ruins of an old fortress, parking for several cars below the top

Loved the hike to the top. Fantastic aerial view of Zadar. There are lovely tiny pathways that you can scramble around to admire the fortress.
It needs restoration work badly.

A must see if you are on the island, if trying to go there by scooter make sure it’s powerful enough because some hills are very steep and can be hard to get up on a smaller one. Also be cautious on some turns that have loose gravel.

A fabolous view point and absolutely worth a hike. You can start at tommy hipermarket and have a nice walk up. You can also go by car. Then you can continue to mount scah. From the castle you have great views over the island and till Zadar and the mountains.

Well worth the hike up. The views up there are amazing and it's a very cool fortress. However, if you are planning to walk down to the beach (uvala zeljina) I would recommend very good shoes and be certain you aren't afraid of heights and abit of climbing. We followed the route down anti clockwise around the fortress and had to turn back as we was not dressed for what we faced.

The views from the top are amazing. We started the hike around 2pm which was a bit late in the hot summer season. It got very hot rather quickly going uphill. However the views are well worth it. Bring lots of water with you and you'll be okay. It took us about 1hr one way.
