Plitvice River House

Had an amazing stay with great food, a luxurious room and the most humble, hardworking and kind host. Ante and the team take care of their guests with all their heart and you can feel that. You can never expect so much kindness from a host but we especially didn't expect it in such a tourist place. You made our experience of the Plitvice lakes 100 times better. Thank you very much!

Lucy and staff were fantastic hosts! I was well taken care of from the beginning to end of my stay. The food from the restaurant was delicious and all locally sourced. Lucy gave me directions to the Plitvice National park - you can walk from the River House. They also have great outdoor space to enjoy the area. Room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Thank you, Lucy! I'll definitely be back.

It was a great stay at Plitvice River House. The unique, homely and comfortable Inn operated by warm, friendly owner Mr Ante. Thank you so much for the hospitality and super sumptuous food that he cooked. We are blessed to be served by a wonderful host.

This was a great place to stay to see the Plitvice waterfalls. It was close by in proximity and the hosts were amazing! We received a warm welcome from Lucy when we arrived and she showed us the best route for us to take to see the park. The food was amazing and the rooms were really nice and very clean. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

Our visit to Plitvice was perfect - because of the beautiful waterfalls and also because of our stay at Plitvice River House! First of all, Lucy and her husband were SO kind and welcoming -we felt immediately at home upon checking in. The room and bathroom were sparking clean and the shower had great water pressure. We opted for the home-cooked dinner and wine at night. It was delicious especially after a day of hiking! River House is also within walking distance to the most amazing view of the waterfalls, so close that we went there not once but twice. Overall, Plitvice River House was a beautiful and idyllic house in a great location and with the most gracious hosts, and we could not have asked for a better stay!

Very gorgeous house, very warm, cosy and clean.
Meals are fresh local food made with love. So delicious we were amazed by the ingredient yet some simple dishes but made to perfection.
We felt at home every moment we shared was lovely.
The little lake close to the house is so peaceful.
We slept like babies in this heaven place.
Really hope we can comeback. It's so close to the Park also.

I had the privilege of staying at Plitvica River House in Croatia for a night, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience that left us truly amazed. Ante and Lucy, the proprietors of this hidden gem, welcomed us with a level of hospitality that we had never encountered before.

What makes their story even more remarkable is that Ante and Lucy, with their combined expertise gained from working on a big cruise ship for two decades, decided to embark on a new journey in Plitvice Selo. Ante's prior role as a manager in one of the world-famous ship restaurants is a testament to his skill and knowledge in hospitality, and it shines through in every aspect of their establishment.

The location of this accommodation is nothing short of magical, nestled inside the national park itself, where only 17 houses exist. A mere 10-minute walk from the house leads you to the secret 3rd entrance to the national park. During our visit in early August, we were astonished to find ourselves as the sole visitors at this entrance, with no queues to hinder our experience.

Plitvica River House offers only seven rooms, each impeccably clean and surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature. Ante and Lucy's culinary skills are equally impressive, with their food and drinks prepared to perfection. Their exceptional hospitality went above and beyond our expectations. They graciously shared their knowledge of the national park, and Ante even took the time to prepare a packed lunch for our adventure.

Notably, my wife has dietary restrictions, being gluten-free, and Ante effortlessly crafted a dinner and breakfast that not only catered to her needs but also delighted her taste buds, complete with fresh figs as a delightful touch.

This is unequivocally one of the finest examples of hospitality we've ever encountered, and we've traveled extensively. We left with the firm intention of returning to Plitvica River House, as it is a place that not only offers a memorable stay but also warms your heart with the genuine warmth of its hosts, Ante and Lucy. Our experience here was truly exceptional, and we eagerly look forward to our next visit.

Our family had a wonderful stay with Anton at Plitvika River House. Quiet, serene location within walking distance to breathtaking Veliki Slap views.
Rooms are large and very comfortable. The food is exceptional - locally sourced and high quality. Anton is a thoughtful and skilled chef.

Above and Beyond. Plitvice River House is notbonly perfectly situated for access to Plitvce National park but it is an oasis. The hospitality does not stop.

Dinner is perfectly prepared and served like a five star hotel. Such a delightful experience.

Rooms are comfortable and very clean.

Breakfast ensures you are ready for a full day of hiking. Order the lunch the night before so you have something to carry you through the day.

We had an amazing stay at Lucy & Ante‘s!! They are the best hosts we have ever met and their place is fantastic. The room had everything we needed (including free of charge baby bed) and was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner was delicious and prepared thoughtfully with local produce and had some Brazilian & Croatian touches. The location is great, only a few mins from a less busy entrance and Lucy gives great advice on routes based on whatever your set up is which was great for us. Their whole family is super lovely including the two kids who became friends with our two little ones. Lucy and Ante made us feel part of their family and couldn‘t be lovelier. On one rainy day they were absolute life savers and helped us out with rain gear so we could still go to the park. There is also a nice playground behind the house which was great for our kids. The only thing we regret is not staying longer! It was amazing!

Absolute absolute best experience ever, amazing stay, lovely hosts. Lucy and Ante as hosts were very very professional, and helpful in everything. From recommending everything I need to know for visiting National Park, absolute gorgeous dinner, and best wine recommendation. It is beyond doubt the best accommodation. Remarkably personal and warm staff with family vibes but professional hospitality skills. Location is near the "back entrance" to Plitvice, which worked out pretty well for us (you walk in).

A beautiful experience that we always will remember.
This place is not like any other. Ante and Luciana who met first time working on a cruise ship, are just wonderful. Ante worked as a chef and food and beverage manager on cruise ships for many years. Luciana and Ante are running the Plitvica River House with passion and love. When we arrived, Luciana welcomed us with warm greetings and gave us a perfect information about the options to visit the Plitvicer lakes and falls. The Plitvica River House is nearby entrance 3 that is not very touristic. A bit remote but just beautiful countryside. Just be careful not running over a chicken when driving there. If you are staying there, do not go to a restaurant in the village. Enjoy Ante’s passion for hospitality and cooking. I was a business traveler all my life and I stayed in hundreds of big Hotel I possible do not remember anymore. Plitvica River House, I will always remember. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the small garden restaurant just next to the herb garden. Ante only uses local products for its dishes. Just delicious.
We could see that Ante was raised in the catering industry everything was perfect and passioned.
Before leaving, Ante helped me to pay the ticked I got from the police two day before for wrong parking.

My wife and I both loved this place! Stayed here for 2 nights in Sept 2021. Food was outstanding, room was freshly updated. Lucy helped us plan our extensive day at the park. The woodwork all over the inside and out was impressive. Highly recommended. Lucy and Ante are the nicest people and Ante makes great food, both dinner and breakfast. Definitely stay here!

And the service is one of the best, I have ever experienced in a Hotel.

Location: 15min walk to P3 or 2min with car. Even if you don't go to the Nat. Park, there's a nice walk, so you can see the seas from above.
They have free parking at the House and a nice playground and terrace outside.

The staff: the most nice&warm people we have ever met in a hotel. They made us lunch, even though they don't do lunches and gave us good tipps for the Nat. Park. Their kids and our played lovely and everything was customized to our wishes!

Food: the food was perfect! Every night a 3course menu. Great breakfast in the morning!
