Really beautiful park. We came here for sunrise via jeep at about 3am, started the hike up the hill at 4am and sunrise was at 5am (reach earlier to get a good viewing spot as it's really crowded). After the sun is up, take pictures at the popular spots with the trees, and then head back down the hill for the jeep to take you to the sand area for more phototaking opportunities with your jeep. After that we went to the Bromo crater, you could pay for a horse ride or just walk. All in all it was very beautiful

Mt. Bromo is one of Indonesia’s active volcano. I did a shared tour and was quite disappointed because it is actually quite easy to DIY. Nevertheless, the experience was amazing.

Unfortunately, Gunung Bromo erupted on the day of our tour thus we were unable to go to the viewing crater. Next time I will come back for this and really do it myself (or with friends).

Tip: if you are going to do the sunrise tour, better prepare with a jacket or a wind breaker at the very least, as it can get quite chilly between 3-5am.

Worth visiting to see the sun rising. Real spectacular view! The last ride up in a 4WD off road in the darkness is a real experience. Bumpy ride though!

Very amazing and adorable place. You can see an amazing sunrise from this place. Also beautiful view from Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and many more. There are many local and foreigner tourist.

Yes, totally worth it. Several view points, and in general you don't know which one your guide will take you to, some are higher up then others but all should be great. Where the jeeps park, vendors will offer jackets for rent (20k), and it's worth it. At the view points, you can also rent mattresses and blankets, pretty nice for the wait until sunrise. The stalls and little restaurants offer hit drinks and instant noodles, some that open after sunrise also a few more options such as bakso. All toilets cost 5k.

Beautiful scenery, at night it's very cold. don't forget to wear thick clothes to keep you warm.

It's a beautiful and rare experience. We had to start around 2 in the midnight to reach the king kong sunrise point where we witnessed the most beautiful sunrise and the Mount Bromo shining in its full glory.
It was freezing at the hills and a thick jacket, woolen cap, gloves and scarfs are a must.
After watching the beautiful sunset, we were taken to the Mount Bromo and it's a bit tiring walk to the crater but it's worth it.

However you visit Mount Bromo / Semeru Nationalpark, if you will be in the region, get up early and be on top of the mountain for spectacular sunrise at 4.30am.

Flight over a long distance to Indonesia - Surabaya, and then have to drive car with ~6 hours to Bromo area plus have to wake up at 2am to go to the National Park by jeep, across the dessert at night and have to walk a long distance to go to the top to see the mountain, it really requires you have a strong determine and a strong health to overcome all of this.
But believe me - one you see the wonderful view here, you will know that all the effort you have made are really worth it 😃😃

Being from NY, it wasn't super cold. Had a 5 layers no big jacket.
It's breathing and amazing, the pics don't seem real.
The trek to the Crater is dusty and hot, come prepared for a face mask..
And you'll be peeling off the extra clothes bring small sunscreen if your fair skinned

Mount Bromo is a must-visit destination for nature and adventure enthusiasts, offering a unique and visually stunning experience. However, be prepared for varying weather conditions and remember to respect the environment and local culture during your visit.

If you are visiting Malang or East Java in general, this is a must see. It does not matter if you do it yourself or with a guide (hiring a jeep) this place is magical. Pure power of the nature.

Practical info:
We visited Bromo without sunrise tour, but it was still an amazing experience: both the area around the volcano and the crater itself.
The hike up the crater will take around 40-60 min and there are quite a few stares to climb so be prepared. During the day it was actually very warm so we did not need any warm clothes.
Once you are at the top you can hike around the crater which is a great experience. For hiring a jeep, lunch and an additional waterfall visit we paid 1.6m.

This park is so vast, you need to hire a jeep with the driver to go around the park and to the Mountain Bromo. The views at the hills, the other hills and mountains are very pretty too, some are drivable and very steep and you can see little monkeys on the way. Unfortunately when the cloud comes down, it would obsecure views. But Mountain Bromo itself was pretty clear being close to dessert area. Just the landscape for the park is amazing and breathtaking. We didn’t go early in the morning but still really enjoyed everything. You need to be a bit fit to climb the stairs to the crater of Bromo. You can also walk along the crater which is neverending, although it was a bit scary as the pathway isn’t very wide at some parts and if you slip, well..basically you will die. But the view of the active Bromo is just amazing and scary at the same time. This is one of the place to make you feel the majesty of God.

We standby from 4 am to see the sunrise and it was soooo cold. It's not easy to take a good picture because it was so crowded. Afterwards you can go to the sand dune (beware of dog poos here), small Hindu temple, savanna (teletubbies hill), ride a horse, and climb steep stairs to see and hear the volcano.

Absolutely stunning view! Magnificient place to see sunrise. This is one you will want to wake up for.

The sunrise view is absolutely spectacular and it's also quite the adventure to drive with the jeep through the Sea of Sand afterwards. And then we can reach to top of this active volcano by climbing hundreds of stairs
