The beautiful display of our Hindu culture, in the colour of peace. There are lots of other temples too in the campus. (Note: Staying and food facilities available in Rajim if visitors want to stay.). Administration is looking into the development which is quite nice and appreciable. Facilities like washroom and parking is there, food stalls are there at the side of road. One can go by own vehicle or by bus ( till the rajim entry gate, from there visitors have to walk or book a auto). Nice and clean venue, and it literally feels like a religious place which is very nice experience but the Prasad system has affected by corporate effect. Campus opens into the Lakshman Jhoola bridge.

I don't have any other option otherwise I would give 100 stars not five for this temple I found the foundation date of this temple more attractive. It is very difficult to describe this temple in my own words because this temple should have been more famous for its carvings, take care of this temple, I did not like it much. This is an important inscription of the Kalachuri period. Its purpose is to announce the construction of Ram temple in Rajim by Panchhans Kulranjak Rajmal Kulamaltilak Jagpal Dev and the donation of Shalmalia village for God's offering. The article is in Sanskrit language and Devanagari script. It begins with 'Om Namo Narayanaya' and its date is Wednesday on the Sthastami day of Magha month Shukla Paksha of Kalachuri Samvat 896. Samant Jagpal Dev, subordinate to the Kalchuri kings of Kosala, was the master of exemplary self-qualities. Along with being a promoter of true religion, ethical, great warrior, he was the one who provided the fruits of religion, meaning and work to his subjects. He made remarkable achievements in the territorial expansion of Kalchuri Empire by conquering Vivar Bhumi, Bihara Desh, Dandor, Komomandal, Tamnar, Rath Teran, Talhari Mandal, Sarharagad, Mechka-Sihawa, Bhramardesh Kantar, Kusum Bhog, Kanda Dongar, Kakray etc.

Rajiv Lochan temple is a Vishnu temple situated at the tri-confluence of 3 holy rivers - Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondur in the town of Rajim in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
The temple is an ancient one, and is associated with several folklores as well as history.
Let us first start with the legends.
This temple is associated with the Ramayana and Lord Rama. It is said that when Lord Rama performed the Aswamedha Yagna ( where a horse was dedicated to gods and was allowed to roam freely for one year, and then was brought back and sacrificed), the free-floating horse was held by Raju Lochan, the ruler of the place which is called Rajim now. Raju Lochan Not only held the horse, he gave it to a powerful sage named Kardam. Hearing this, Shatrughna, the younger brother of Lord Rama came to rescue the horse, but was burnt to ashes by the sage Kardam. Now Lord Rama himself came. He first went to the sage and pleaded to get back the horse. Sage Kardam was pleased and gave back the horse.
Hearing this, Raju Lochan became afraid. He prayed to Lord Rama to forgive him. Lord Rama was pleased. Raju Lochan then asked Rama to stay there permanently so that he can worship Rama daily.
Lord Rama asked him to build 3 temples - one for himself and two for Lord Shiva. Raju Lochan did that and Lord Rama agreed to stay in spirit in that temple which was then became famous as Rajiv Lochan temple.

Other stories : Rajiv Lochan temple is associated with other legends too, which associate this temple with a Telin (a woman who make and sell edible oils) named Rajwa.

Popular belief is that the temple was built by Raja Jagat Pal.

The temple :
Structurally the temple is of a rare style called PANCHAYATANA temple. In this style, 5 separate temples are constructed on a big square platform, one big main temple dedicated to the principal deity at the centre, and 4 smaller temples dedicated to several deities at the four corners. This types of temples are a rarity, even in the whole country, and it is estimated that the number of this type of temple is less than 20 in India.

In the case of Rajiv Lochan temple, the central main temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Rajiv Lochan, and the 4 smaller corner temples are dedicated to different Avatars of Lord Vishnu -- Varaha Deva, Vaman Deva, Badarinath and Nrisingha Deva.
Rajiv Korchan temple houses the beautiful stone idol of Vishnu as Rajiv Locchan. The standing statue is dressed in colourful clothes, only the face with two big eyes is visible.
The Mandap of the temple has several stone pillars adorned with exquisite carvings depicting gods and goddesses as well as flowers etc.

Other temples in the complex:
There are 5 Shiva temples, one Shakti temple, one small temple dedicated to Surya, the Sun god and one Jagannath temple in close vicinity.

The 5 Shiva temples are Raj Rajeswara temple, Dan Daneswara temple, Bhuteswar temple, Pancheswarnath temple and Kuleswar temple (the last two are called Mama and Bhanja temple respectively).
Of these 5 Shiva temples, 2 require special mention :
1) Raj Rajeswara temple : this temple and it's entrance have extremely exquisite stone carvings depicting Naga Loka (the abode of Snakes), Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma, social scenes etc.
One interesting feature is a sitting statue of Lord Buddha in Bhumisparsha posture. Interestingly, locals call this Buddha statue as of Raja Jagat Pal.
2) Kuleswara temple : this ancient temple, said to be founded by Mother Sita during her Vanavas (exile in forest), is situated inside the river bed. It is however connected with land via two bridges, one motorable and the other newly constructed one (till date not opened to public as on 6th September 2021) for pedestrians.
