Trekking is very good one. 5km walk through deep forest connect you with nature. Avoid putting toffee wrappers and plastic bottles in forest. Collect these items from the forest if you see one and put in the waste bin near the office area. Protect nature. Enjoy the forest.

And avoid summer and late winter
You can ride through the forest and the road is well maintained with a lot of elephant crossing points
There are boating, cycling through forest and treking
The staffs are polite and helpful

Must watch places at one's in life. The way to chiminidam wildlife sanctuary is beautiful within the forest. We also want to see animals

A beautiful place to just go and enjoy the nature! The drive through the forest was amazing! The forest department also provides some services like cycling, trekking and kuttavanji! I went there in the morning so there were literally 15-20 people. It's a must go place!

Whether you are interested in hiking, birdwatching, or simply taking in the views, Chimmini Dam is a must-see destination. The entry charges to the dam are 20Rs per person and 50Rs per bike. We will only get BSNL signal. Once you reach the dam, you may get free wifi based on the electricity. The time I visited, there was no power, so you couldn't use Google Pay there to pay for activities. At the entrance, you have to pay with cash only.

A calm and quiet location. During our visit, though it was on a Saturday, may be due to COVID 19, number of visitors were too low. Try to make your visit by early morning or by the evening. Otherwise it's too hot at the dam area. Entry over the dam is prohibited as of now. But from viewers gallery it's a nice view. It may be a nice visual treat if it is in a rainy season

Its cool place. Nice roads. You can spot elephants morning and evening 3o clock near dam.

The spot is far away, but it is very close to nature and there won't be the hustle and bustle of city life. You can even drive a car or bike around the reservoir, something that is not usually possible in other places.

Maintained neatly. Place is quite and nice. Definitely can go and sit for some time. 100/- rs entry for car and per person they charge 20/- Ride through the forest and the roads are nice too.

Must visit in Thrissur. Earth dam with beautiful sceneray. It is worth the drive.
Beautiful road and bridges on the way to the dam. Its a Small dam, shutters will be open rarely. Boating, wildlife, butterfly garden etc available . Rainy season is better experience. Morning or afternoon is better time to visit . Ticket rate is very reasonable. Lots of parking available and a small canteen too .

Amazing forest! Very nice texture and color, forest department currently arrange only basic 3 hour trek, hoping to have 6-8 hour or full day trek covering more area and to experience more!

Chimmini Dam.

The Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary is located in chalakudy Taluk in Thrissur district.  The dense forests, a variety of birds and butterflies, and innumerable trekking trails, this place provides a heady experience for nature explorists and wildlife lovers.

It isnot rare for visitors to view elephants, sambars, gaurs, Malabar squirrels and sloth bears in the sanctuary. The soundness of this place brings you a solitudenes and an exciting refreshment.

A nice destination for a short trip with family.
The roads leading to the dam are pretty decent.
Parking area is available. No parking fee as such.
A entrance fee is collected at the checkpost leading to the wildlife scantuary and dam.
A small park is also available. A cafeteria with small refreshments is a delight.. You can sit in the shade overlooking the reservoir and munch on the snacks.
There are roads available to different parts of the dam. You can use your vehicle if you don't to walk.
There are roads leading to both the viewing gallery, bridge, park, cafeteria and the view points.
If you prefer to walk, you could walk on the road on top of the dam and have a good view of the reservoir.
This place is close by to the thrissur and chalakudy.
This is also a wildlife Sanctuary, and if luck prevails you could spot a few animals by the reservoir area.

Peaceful place for a one day trip.. trekking, cycling also there.. only 30 min drive from Thrissur.. chimmini is a wildlife sanctuary.. you may see elephants on the way..

The visit was simply outstanding. Dam is now open for tourists finally... You take your own vehicle which will cost Rs 100 for parking. Adults are charges 20 rs and free entry for kids. You can walk through the gallery which is around half kilometre walk but one cannot go directly on top from where the water is releases. That section is closed for security reasons...
