This museum was so creative. Everything here was made of coir, the remaining stuff that comes off when we cut coconuts.

The scrapes of coconuts basically.

So creative and beautiful.

The cleanliness and awareness of the museum is awesome.

Loved the ganeshji made of coir.

There were many items made of coir. So beautiful 😍

Loved the services too.

Thanks.

During the Diamond Jubilee year, Coir Board built an International Coir Museum that showcases historical events and the progression of technological breakthroughs in the Coir Sector. On May 27, 2014, the International Museum was opened at the Coir Board Complex in Kalavoor by the Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy. The public may now visit this museum. The International Coir Museum was founded to present the growth of the coir business via the most recent advancements that have sparked a revolution. Alleppey's tourism map mentions this museum as a beautiful location.
The museum also showcases the evolution of the coir industry's traditional methods, such as retting and fiber extraction, the introduction of mechanization in the coir business, etc. Visitors are taken on a brief video tour of the history of the coir industry, including its inception, expansion, and current advancements resulting from ongoing research and development. This will provide nostalgic memories of the coir business. The Museum is connected to a gift shop where guests may enjoy SHOPPING a variety of coir handicrafts, doormats, ornaments, etc.

This museum showcases the building of coir industry. Coir is made from the shell and fiber of coconuts. The industry took hold in the 1850s. Many products of everyday use is produced and sold around the world. They have equipment to make coir from the early days till the 20th century. Fascinating place. I would recommend this place for those interested in history and manufacturing development in the area.

Everyone needs to visit this museum. There are so many things you can learn from here. You can some creative things like Taj Mahal, Eiffel tower made of coir. They have the entire generation of machines used to extract coir. What took 11months to process can be done with in seconds. I am certainly amused by the house made entirely of coir, it is soundproof, fireproof and waterproof.
