Excellent documentaries. Show lasts 55 minutes and isn't expensive. Knowledgeable vulcanology post-graduate students are on hand to answer any questions. There's a small museum of rock types that you can touch. Well worth a visit!

Wee museum with some pretty cool geological exhibits. The two documentaries are pretty interesting and there is a little gift shop. You can touch most of the exhibits and you will walk away learning something new, I now know that there's such a thing as a lava bomb and they are kinda round, plus there are different types of volcanic ash. There's also free coffee. This place is pretty ace

Nice little museum based around two short films about the volcanoes on Iceland. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The films take an hour combined and are shown back to back in their small cinema room.

While you wait for the films to start (which was on the hour when I visited) there is a good collection of volcanic rocks which you are encouraged to pick up and look at, plus lots of information about volcanoes to geek out on.

Worth a visit for the 2 movies alone (approx 45 minutes) covering 2 major eruptions in recent Icelandic history. Outside the movie room, the mini museum testifies to the real sense of pride that the Icelanders feel about the geology of their astonishing island.

Fascinating! Even though the exhibit area is small, it is packed full of great information. The documentaries are excellent. We really enjoyed our visit to Volcano House!

A fantastic resource for visitors to Iceland. The geological exhibits were entertaining and the gift selection was nice, but the assistance we received in planning our week of adventures was priceless. We had a great stay in Iceland, but the most memorable parts were those suggested by Daan, who helped us find tours and hotels. If we weren't eating fish & chips next door, we may have never stopped by and that would have been a mistake!

Excellent (& free) little information center on volcanoes and the local geology in the area. It's worth popping in if your walking through the area. The attached restaurant has the best potatoes I had in Iceland. They come with the fish and chips and are sooooo good. They also have home made dips that are amazing.

Very cool little geological museum that will open your eyes to the fire side of the land of fire and ice. Free for the exhibition and you can catch one of the two films for half price.

This is one of the best tourist attractions I went to in Reykjavik. They have a lot of different types of rocks and different volcanic ash you can touch. Learning about the rocks is made so much better by getting a feel for them.

A good, 10-15min worth of exhibit and a fun way to learn more about famous Icelandic volcanoes without having to go too far out of the way on your walk through Reykjavik.

I was visiting Iceland for a week and decided to check out the Volcano house because i heard it had a great video on the history of past eruptions in Iceland. I highly recommend coming here and checking it out if you have time.

Very informative. Good way to fill a gap during the day if weather not good or if between trips. Go early and you may even have the cinema to yourself. Staff very friendly and helpful.
