Hertz Car Rental Reykjavík Downtown

We rented a car twice from them. The same car twice, actually, we liked it a lot. We just returned the car and it was very easy and simple since we kept the booking paperwork handy. The guys were nice, checking on me a few times as I waited for my partner to wrap things up. No scratch claims or anything so far. Will update, but so far so good! They even offered to call us a taxi while we were looking at our phones figuring out how to get to our hotel! Very sweet and thoughtful, lots of effort put into the customer service and it was the end of a day pretty much after hours... which says a lot. Thanks, all!

Had to change the rental car for a 4X4 and went to Downton Reykjavik Hertz office. Young girl in there was suburb and sorted us out quickly and professionally. We were able to explore Iceland to the full, thank you. Really hard to get staff this good, hope you look after her Hertz :-)

Blaming the cold, I idiotically made a reservation for next year instead of 2 days in the future. When I turned up they were legit confused but quickly sorted me out at an even better price for the same day, with a better car too. Thank you Hertz, wonderful service! You saved the last day of my vacation!

This location is very busy. They had plenty of staff so made checking out car quick and easy. They were very accommodating with car return as it was going to be after close. I rented a Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4. It was well maintained and clean.

First time visiting Iceland, they made the rental process pretty simple and straightforward. They were quite busy so it felt a little slow but I can't really hold that against them.
The shuttle service picked us up from the hotel to retrieve our rental, which was great. Every one was polite and helpful.
I believe some form of organized line system might benefit the small office during busy hours.

The guy pushed for windshield chip insurance and we hesitantly purchased it, but proceeded to get a new chip on the window during our 1 day rental. A lot of bad reviews, but we didn’t have any problems. I recorded a video of the car before we rented it and after to prove it was returned in good condition in case anyone asked but we didn’t need it. Much more affordable than KEF airport.

People complained about getting cheated at this place, I had no such problems. Great staff, walked me through everything and we were good to go. They have an after hours drop off point, so no rush of getting back before closing time. They pick you up from the hotel, so call in advance or have the hotel call. Gas station across the street, so you don't have to stress about filling up the tank in advance.

Busy, but we’ll managed. Staff was friendly and competent. English is common in Iceland.

We had forgotten credit card at the apartment and they drove us back there to pick it up. During the trip the blonde girl gave us tips for Reykjavik and the breakfast place she recommended was amazing.

What a lovely bunch of people. Very helpful and professional.

Easy pickup, desk is at the airport and after 5 minutes of forms I was in the car which was parked right outside. Car was very new (5000km). When I returned the car I was not able to refuel, as the pump at the airport did not accept my card. I did not have time to drive to another fuel station so I left the car with an empty tank. There was no employee there because it was the middle of the night. To my gratitude, I was not fined for not refuelling and they just charged me with the fuel. Great job Hertz!

Very friendly and helpful staff! I just arrived at the moment the station was closed few minutes ago. The guys opened it again, started up the computer and gave me my car. That's a service u will find not very often in the rest of Europe! Others could learn from u what it means... be helpful to customers! Hertz should give u a award! Thank u very much guys!!

We had an excellent experience at Hertz in Reykjavik. Staff was incredibly accommodating and our vehicle was perfect. Free pick-up service from our hotel was super convenient.

Recommended. Pick-up at KEF went relatively quick, they were trying to sell me another insurance even though I booked that through rentalcars.com. Sounded a bit shady at first but perhaps they just weren't aware. Car was almost new and in good shape. NO SURPRISES WHEN RETURNING THE VEHICLE. This is what you want from your car rental company. Many others will try to rip you off with fabricated damages et al. or so I've read.

The most friendly Hert staff I've ever met. They had a lot of customers due to the holydays and reopening after covid, but stayed calm and friendly.

We were able to rent a car at the last minute, the staff was very helpful. They shuttled us back downtown after we brought back the car. The whole experience was rather pleasant

Friendly and went the extra mile to help us return our car close to closing.
