This was a unique place. If you have an appreciation for scrap metal art, this is a great place to check out. There’s no fee to look around, but a donation box to make a contribution if you want.

This was as far as I went along my walk of the coast and spent a fair amount of time here. There are different levels to view and plenty of objects to take in. Many face masks, statues, paintings, metal artwork with clearly signposted information regarding them. It is a little unnerving to hear creaks and groans when alone in the rain as it feels like you're being watched due to the cramming of items both inside and out. But it is definitely worth a visit as I have not seen something like this before.

Amazing! We found this place by casualty. Walking by the sidewalk of the coast at 3am. There is no words to describe it. I didn't know about this place. We just found it and it blew our minds. I totally want to be back.

A very interesting place indeed!
Visited on Monday morning whilst enjoying the day in Reykjavik. A curious array of scrap and material that have been fashioned into a range and things, sculptures, furniture and idols of the Saga gods.
It's free to walk around the outside and marvel at the house and surrounding parts. The nature of what is there do make it somewhat unsuitable for young children as the metal may be jagged in places and the track around the house is not necessarily a defined pathway.
Very much worth the visit.

Really quirky, great place to explore, right next to the sculpture museum and at the North end of the sculpture walk. Recommend!

Cannot give enough stars! We were lucky enough to stay in the Airbnb guesthouse for a few days ~ a very, very beautifully weird artistic spot a nice little ~30min walk from downtown Reykjavik.

The owner, and famed classic Viking filmmaker, Hrafn Gunnlaugsson, and his lovely wife Yaira, were amazing hosts — and we were very lucky to meet Hrafn in person, who was very, very kind and welcoming.

The many little altars to the Old Gods of Norse Mythology are very cool, and experienced in a very unique way here. Definitely make a visit while in town, but be respectful of the property as it is both a home and an Airbnb property!

Found this on my way from the ferry terminal, and what a find!! Madcap genius behind the sculptures and outbuildings. A stranded fishing boat. Seals by the water (the metal kind). A mermaid that's seen better days. Best part is being able to see inside the house and spot the random bits of everyday life. The treadmill was my favorite. Not a kid-friendly place- lots of spikey metal bits, but perfect for the big kids.

Found this place by mistake while cruising through Reykjavik on the zolo scooters. Was creeped out at first until I realized it was an art project. Really cool spot to visit if you have time to kill with a nice view of the bay from the back. Can't say I understand why it was built but was really cool and unique. Haven't seen anything like it before.

Recycled house on the ocean. You can find many things here and some kind of sculpture. For people who like this stuff

Hrafn Gunnlaugsson is an Icelandic film director, he owns the Recycled House. After watching all the episodes of Vikings, I found their Nordic beliefs fascinating. I do respect all religions and beliefs. Freyr Shrine, Odinn and Thor are remembered here in this Recycled House.

One of the most extraordinary spot where you can explore for free in Reykjavik, definitely a hidden gem. You can spend sometimes to explore every single detail and if you lucky to have a nice weather you can enjoy the shore. Definitely you should give a visit!

Interesting house that looks abandoned at first until you take a closer look. The design and decoration outside made it feel eerie, but was also very cool to see. Found out that this was made by an old Viking film director that repurposed this building into something of an artwork. A lot of effort was put into this, definitely should check it out.

A hidden gem on Reykjavík's eastern coastline. The area around the house is freely accessible 24/7. There are lots of interesting structures and objects located around the house itself as well. You have an excellent look on Reykjavík's skyline from here and the entire area looks stunning when the sun is setting. I certainly recommend this as a nice getaway spot for those who are in need of some quick or want to take artsy pictures!

Interesting spot hidden in Reykjavik, while not having too much tourism around it. Worth the small detour if in the region.

Hidden wonder in Reykjavik. Art house with amazing art and views of the harbor created by a local film director. We stumbled upon this by accident and are so glad we did.

Super neat to walk around! I think someone lives there, though? Which makes me feel weird about exploring.
