Agriturismo la Nevera

Stayed here for a day with family and booked the place suddenly. Had an amazing experience especially with the staff - Bartender Mario and the chef Rafael. They made us feel comfortable, recommended the local specialities and explained how they use their own cows for the meat and cheese, the food was excellent and the chef makes his pasta and sauces by hand. I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the region.

The stuff were super helpful and the restaurant offered us one if not the best dishes we had tasted in Italy! The burger was handmade and the pizzas were fresh out of the oven! The rooms were clean an cosy. 100 worth of our stay!

Wonderful experience. Very friendly and helpful owner Nikola and staff. Very comfortable beds that gave us a very good sleep.
Animals to play with for the children. One can book horse riding too.
Good food. We arrived late and the kitchen was flexibel enough to cook a tasty simple pasta al pomodoro.
Try and book direct with them and not via a comparison website.
Very good value for money and family friendly!
The drive up is some tight hairpins so let the locals pass you they know how to drive these roads like F1 drivers. Therefore try to arrive during daylight hours.

We stayed here way too short (1 night) with our family of 5. The location is gorgeous, the staff are super friendly and forthcoming and the Pizza was delicious. The breakfast was simply amazing (juice, pancakes, hot chocolate, bread, jelly honey, ... all a family with small children could wish for). We hope to be back for a longer stay including some horseback riding:)

If you want to see a beautiful starry night, I would recommend 100%, this is one of the best experiences I've had so far in Italy, the staff is delightful and very attentive, the food was tasteful and the house wine taste like water for the gods everything here is homemade, the breakfast was extraordinary, honestly I don't have words to describe my experience is something that you have to live, the way up is a bit steep but the views are so worth it. When heading back to town take the road down from the small town, the pictures do not do it justice, I will be coming back.

Very nice place, the view is amazing and the people are very nice. The chambers and the food are worth the price. The atmosphere is good and it's a very quiet and peaceful place. I recommend it for everyone :)

We found this place by chance, without pre-booking, after having a bad experience in another place. We stayed 2 nights at La Nevera and we wish we could have stayed for longer. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was great and dinner was very tasty. The whole team is super nice and helpful: our son has celiac and they organized gluten-free food especially for him, which was very thoughtful. The location is beautiful surrounded by green mountains and a large garden where the children could play football. In addition, there is a horse farm near where you can take a lesson, which was fun. Thank you for an amazing vacation!

I really enjoyed my lunch here!! A beautiful location with warm and friendly staff. We came on a rainy day and it was very pretty and cozy. The food tasted great and was the perfect thing on a cold lazy day. There was also a cute doggo staying warm by the fire 🐶💕

Hotel:
The hotel is nicely stowed away in the mountain side close to a hospital. It is still super quiet and remote.
Children can play without supervision (some precautions need to be made anyways - it is a farm, still) and playmates are found easily.
The terrace allows for good dining, also being able to take in the mountain scenery and still keep an eye on the kids (if you have any).
Mainly German, Dutch and Belgian guests for the 3 nights we stayed.
The host is super friendly and really makes a difference. Director of hotel and restaurant took over 6 months ago and has stepped up service as he explained.
We had a regular room, which is ok for 2+2, if kids are still young. Otherwise, I would recommend a suite.

Restaurant:
Breakfast is plenty and Americano is the coffee to go for - do not be alarmed when you are served an espress, hot water is brought separately... ;)
Dinner - When the barbecue is on, opt for it and ask what's the special dish of the day. Rumpsteak and beef from own farm are tasty, if you aren't vegetarian or vegan that is.
Pasta with game sauce is also recommended.
Remember that the chef arrives only at 6.30pm, thus dinner starts at around 7pm...

Things to do:
Take the road via Menaggio as this is less narrow. The road via Arogno sports a very close serpentine...
You can easily start your trails there, we rather went for Lake Como and Lake Lugano by car. Definitely try dipping your toes into Lake Lugano at Porlezzo's Panama beach (or just left to it, if you do not need sunbeds).
We did not try the restaurant Il Rondanino downhill. But worth a try, if you stay more than 3 nights.
Definitely visit Lenno and the Villa Monastero at Varenna (only take the ferry on quiet days, it may cut your travel time by an hour, yet you might easily have to wait just as long in high season. Price for a car, 2 adults and 1 kid: EUR 21 (one way tickets only). Maybe leave the car in Menaggio and take the passenger ships.

Things that were not quite perfect:
Hot water access was limited to 8 to 11am and 6 to 10pm. Due to ecological reasons. Especially with small children (1 and 5y) this is a bit of a nuisance.
Not too many animals around. If you want to have contact with a lot of live animals or even want children to participate in farm life this is not the place. 3 dogs and the horses are as good as it gets. ;)

Abbiamo soggiornato alla Nevera 3 notti perché mio figlio è stato operato al cof, posto immerso nel verde molto curato e rilassante, camera in ordine e con buoni spazi, personale gentilissimo e disponibile, colazione dolce e salata favolosa, ristorante davvero ottimo, nonostante il motivo del soggiorno non sia stato dei più piacevole, il posto, la gentilezza e il buon cibo ha fatto sì che ci sentissimo coccolati.
Grazie al proprietario che ci ha regalato un vasetto di miele invernale delle loro api.

Abbiamo prenotato per cambiare la routine del capodanno

Appena arrivati il proprietario Nikola si è messo subito a disposizione per soddisfare le nostre esigenze.
Appena arrivati in stanza ci siamo sentiti subito a nostro agio.
Abbiamo mangiato nel ristorante della struttura per il cenone di Capodanno.
Il menu abbastanza abbondante e prezzo giusto per la qualità del cibo .
Musica dal vivo accompagnava la serata .
Per la colazione niente da dire , molto abbondante i miei figli hanno molto apprezzato il tutto.
Ristorante con vista panoramica sulle montagne.
Struttura consigliata soprattutto per chi ha un cane.
Ricapitolando il tutto sicuramente da riprovare quando c’è la neve.
