Il Malombra

This was one of our favorite experiences on our entire trip in Italy. Mario, the chef/owner extraordinaire, is extremely knowledgeable and talented when it comes to food and people. He took the time to tell us about each dish, how it’s made and where the ingredients came from. Theres no paper menu here! He cooked what’s in season and what he has readily available. It was so fresh, so delicious and so reasonably priced. It’s is a jem you will not want to miss!

We dined here twice in two days. Food, hospitality and location are sublime. Chef cooks with mostly local ingredients and tries differents kinds of dishes. We were blown away by the quality of the food and friendliness of the chef. It’s a great combination to do a hike in the area with a lunch and diner here. Thank you for the special moments ❤.

Very impressive. I and my husband came to eat here two days in a row. The foods were absolutely delicious as well as the dessert!

Host was extremely friendly and goes out of his way to preserve the high quality of food he serves. Probably the best traditional Italian food I have ever eaten. Setting is idyllic and very calming. Would definitely recommend and hope to return there sooner than later.

I’ve been wanting to eat here for some time as I come to this area frequently and finally made it. We huffed and puffed walking all the way up here from Castello and were rewarded with a fabulous meal and equally fantastic wine list. Equally thrilled were my dining companions who have a much lauded restaurant in Luzern (I too own a restaurant in Brooklyn). I went for the basic: spaghetti with pesto which was on the menu last night and it was executed perfectly and exactly what I wanted. Super casual, super delicious and a lovely staff. I just may end up going back again tonight. 🤞🏻

Really lovely place to have a few local drinks with views over Lake Lugano! Highly recommend and the owner was extremely friendly too!

Had a lovely lunch here. The owner paid extra attention to us and was super friendly. The food tasted fantastic and homemade. If you can make the trip up the mountain I can definitely recommend.

A hidden gem! The restaurant doesn't look spectacular, but serves the most delicious food (especially the chef's recommendations), has a friendly atmosphere, and is very accomodating for children and adults alike. I hope we will be able to return someday!
