St Leonards Primary School

IN the late 1990's, my late wife Louise and I visited the "St. Leonard's All Age School" in Westmorland. I think this is the same school.

We are from The United States and Jamaica was our honeymoon. The place we loved the most was the school. All the kids gave us slips of paper with their addresses on them so we could write to them. And we did; every single child got a letter from us. We sent pictures of snow because they had never seen snow!

We also asked a teacher there if they would like books or school supplies. She said most of the kids didn't have shoes! So when we got back to the U.S., we bought about 20 pairs of sneakers and mailed them to the St. Leonard's school. And we got a card and a letter from the teacher there, "Joan Bernett" - I'd love to be able to contact her again if anyone knows who she is or where I could mail her.

The kids sang us a song too. My wife and I never forgot the school. It's probably our most favorite place on earth with all those wonderful children and caring teachers.

My wife passed away 5 years ago but before she did, we talked a lot about Jamaica. Our favorite place on Earth, and out favorite school.
