I'm not sure about anyone else's stay there, but mine personally was amazing! My wife and I just spent a week at The Royalton Hideaway, and I can't fathom anyone who would rate this poorly. First we checked in and was informed we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite, amazing. Definitely wasn't expecting that. The room was spotless, and well kept. Our butlers honestly made the whole trip. Dwight & Okeen were the best butlers I ever had at any resort I have ever stayed at. These guys are professional on a level above any i have ever received. I can't say enough good words about these two gentlemen. All the staff were enjoyable, very kind and friendly. Every restaurant had good servers, good food, and great atmosphere. They had live shows at night, with plenty of activities during the day. We had a blast, and already looking forward to going back. One love 🇯🇲

This was our first Christmas in the Caribbean away from family and life where we hoped to get some rest and relaxation and we sure did. We stayed at the hideaway. The hideaway is in a perfect location along the bay with a cove beach, swim up pool, and steps from the main buffet. Hideaway guests also have a separate part of the buffet. We were part of an overall quiet group of guests this week though I think that changes based on the week and the luck of the draw. It was extremely quiet and relaxing. Service was somewhat slow in the food restaurants, and we found ourselves eating mostly at the buffet bc we didn’t have to deal with slow service at the restaurants.
When we arrived there were several issues with the room from a maintenance perspective but they fixed all issues on the first day. Our room was clean and the resort was clean. I had a lovely week and would recommend this resort. I read alot of the reviews on here, which scared me, but I’m so glad we came. If you expect perfection, you will be disappointed. However, if you can appreciate it for what it is, you’ll love it. Expect a two hour ride from Montego Bay airport to the resort. We used the hotel shuttle and there were several stops to drop off passengers at other resorts and one stop for jerk chicken, beer, and weed. The resort also had all sorts of activities like catamaran sailing, kayaking, parasailing, glass boat snorkeling, etc. oh yeah, bring your snorkel mask-there were all kinds of delightful sea creatures in the cove. Make sure to get an ocean front room. Worth every penny. We practically lived in ours. AC in our room was excellent too.

We had a wonderful time at this Resort. It is not too particularly large so getting around was not bad. We had a full Breakfast in the dining room every morning. Dinner was good. It is an all-inclusive resort with 7 restaurants & 9 bars. They had a white party & shows every night on the lawn. They also have a family resort next door. U can go there also. They had a jerk chicken lunch station on that side, which was amazing. We only did 1 excursion to Rick's Cafe. Over all it was nice. Happy Birthday to me

I was a tad bit nervous to go after reading the reviews... But I had the best time ever :).. The hotel was so nice and rooms SOOO clean... Food was so good at the Buffet for an all inclusive.. The staff was so friendly... I accidently let an Baby lizard in my room lol and the staff helped me look for it... When we couldn't find it I asked the Manger Irika and she moved me in 5 mins into another room.. She made me feel so comfortable and safe :))))

First, I would like to say that this was my first experience in Jamaica. Overall, I feel like our stay was pretty positive. Diamond club members who get the butler service are very lucky and spoiled! I cannot say enough about our amazing butlers Melesia and George. Melesia was attentive and kind, and made sure we had the absolute best experience. She would draw a hot bubble bath and put rose petals in it. She decorated our room with balloons, heart shaped rolled towels on our bed, and rose petals. She was amazing.

I was anticipating a child free resort, and this is supposed to be child free, but is connected to the Royalton which is a family resort. There are children everywhere even in the parts that are supposed to be for hideaway guests only. I was disappointed in this.

The power goes out often! Expect that the power will go out at least one time, if not three during the day. This comes back on rather quickly but resets the air conditioning in the rooms making it warmer than it had been originally set.

We scheduled bag pick up for the day of our departure. The bell hop never showed. We had to haul all of our bags down to the diamond club area to check out.

Snorkeling around the area is amazing!!!! We had the best experience snorkeling at the resort.

I booked a tour through Nexxus because of them, that tour never happened. It was cancelled no warning no email etc. The Nexxus rep Natasha or similar sounding was rude and nasty! I’ve never been treated so poorly. She needs to be fired immediately. I spent almost 6k at the hotel and I’m not sure if I’ll return because of her attitude.

As far as the hotel goes it’s dated, on the dirty side. The butlers were great though it was obvious they were understaffed. The general service is good. I enjoyed parts like of my visit but the bottom line the Nexxus thing was a disaster. The hotel is 50% responsible because they allow them on property with low reviews! I hope the hotel works on making changes. This is a beautiful location but the hotel itself is nothing special. The people of Jamaica make the hotel! I would be remiss if I didn’t warn people to be cautious because I was asked for a tip twice. I wasn’t intimidated. You are tipped when I deem so fitting

Hideaway at Royalton was a big disappointment. Their mindset seems to be this; you’ve already given us your money, we don’t care about you when you get to the resort.

Let me go through a few of my experiences:
1. After 12 hours of travel, we arrive at the resort night, the Hideaway lobby is closed, we go to the main lobby (family friendly area) and the workers are shocked by our arrival as if we did not have this booked months in advance. No one helped us find our rooms in the dark! The room was freezing and the AC was impossible to find (would have been nice for someone to show us around), We went to sleep hungry (no food available).

2. We NEVER received any welcome or orientation about the resort. The individuals working here are extremely rude (with a few exceptions). No one is willing to apologize for mistakes. Waiters/Waitresses were very nice, but thats about it. Hostess for restaurants were extremely rude.

3. Cockroaches everywhere. That says it all.

Overall, the food was fine, there are select few of the workers who are friendly. However, the reception is so disorganized, unwelcoming and uncaring. NOT worth all the money.

Our whole wedding party felt the whole experience was not worth it. The premium bar on the adult side was tiny. No premium at the pool. We found the main premium bar late in the week. I had a room in my name for 8 days, and they somehow couldn’t give me BONVOY credit. I ended up with 1 day on the card.
Lots of sparking and problems from outlets.
Butlers wouldn’t schedule shuttle rides.
The rooms were nice though.

We booked this trip back in September. It was a delayed birthday trip for my partner and I.
When we arrived and got to the front desk, we were told that the suite we booked was not available, so they were giving us a complimentary upgrade. However, we were not able to use any of the perks that came uplong with the suite we ended up getting. We were told that we only had to make a reservation at one of the restaurants, but when we tried to go to the restaurants, we were told that we needed to have a reservation, unless we were diamond club members. The buffet food was not good at all, and they offered the same things pretty much every meal.
Our room was not the cleanest either, and neither was the jacuzzi that was outside on our balcony.
Trying to get served at the bars was also a nightmare. We would wait for at least 15 minutes before someone would come over and serve us. Others who just walked up to the bar would be served before we would.
I thought there would be more access to the beach, but there wasn't much to it. They have a family side of the resort and the adults only side.
We paid for a romantic dinner on the beach.... however, after being served our starter course, it started raining. There was not a staff person in sight. We went to the front desk to ask if the rest of our food could be brought up to our room. We had the hardest time getting an answer for that. It was only when I asked for a refund that someone managed to find the answer. It took them forever to bring the food to our room, and it was cold, and the steak was not cooked how we asked for it.
For us, there was not much to like about this resort, and we definitely won't visit this resort again.

We stayed at Hideaway (Adult Side), Diamond Club Oceanview

Summary: This is not a 5-star resort. This is not a luxury resort. The resort in general was badly designed. Service and food are subpar. Things are constantly unavailable. Beware of the good reviews.

I have been to multiple 5-star luxury resorts, this is no where near that. Overall, the experience was unfavorable.

The staff, in general, are not helpful and rude. They seem to lack training or even care to perform their basic jobs. We frequently saw them standing around idly doing nothing, everywhere at the resort. The rudeness from a lot of places were uncalled for, at the lobby bar, martini bar, restaurants, security staff. If you're a woman walking by yourself, you will basically get harassed by the security. Happened to my wife and friend, and I saw it happened first hand. My friend asked a bartender for water. The bartender said the bar was closed, after he just handed someone a water. Then proceeded to rant our how "this is modern day slavery", about the job he chose. Another bartender at the lobby bar quickly told us he couldn't make 3 of drinks on the menu after which he dismissed friendly conversation completely. It was like he didn't want to be there at all.

Food and drinks are just bad. The entire resort apparently didn't have limes or lemons at any of the bars. Imagine how the drinks came out without these basics. If you ask bartenders for a drink, you are often met with "We can't make that" or "What is that?". Only thing you can get that's decent is low quality rum punch and pina coladas.
Restaurants close and open unexpectedly. The adults side had ONE exclusive restaurant. One day it was just closed for half of the day without any explanation as to why. The pizzeria on the family said was supposed to open at 12. At 12:30 we ask if the restaurant is open yet, in which the employee replied "...it should be... doesn't look like it is... maybe try back at 1." Never experienced this before at any other resort.
When the restaurants are open, it can take 2 hours to get the food you ordered, just for it to come out overcooked, cold and bland. We found this out at the "Tex Mex" place. The only food that's average is the buffet, which is shared with the family side. Should be no reason the buffet is miles better than the specialty restaurants. Our first good meal the whole week was at the airport in New York for our layover. That should tell you enough.

The rooms are mid, badly designed. The light switches are made in a way that the main lights need to be on for any of the other lights to work. So have fun going to the bathroom in the middle of the night without waking up your spouse. They put a tub right in the middle of the room too, so if you're into that... The AC in our room was limited to way too low of a setting, and you couldn't turn it off. So every morning was a cold start.

The resort is falling a part. It's only 5 years old, it should not be in the condition its in. From a far, it looks very new and modern. But in person and up close, its bad. A piece of the wall fell off and hit my friend on the head. Every time we keyed into our room, the cover of the sensor fell off. There are workers with ladders constantly walking around daily. Scaffolding against the resort residences. Peeling paint and warped walls.

The Diamond Club is not worth it. The only thing you get is a delayed check in as you wait 20 min for the carts to arrive and a diamond "lounge" that has premium liquors and stale snacks. This is, if you consider Patron and Botany Gin premium.
There's really no purpose of having Diamond club or being at Hideaways as there are virtually no exclusives and the family side has a much better beach, albeit it dirty unkempt beach chairs.

The gym is nice. Only thing i really enjoyed. It's smaller but useful. If you go to Trip Advisor, that's the only thing people are rating Hideaway for. They must be getting asked to review after a gym session.

I could go on, but in general, stay away from this resort <3

We checked in and learned quickly that our AC did not work. I'm 6 months pregnant and from Minnesota so quite uncomfortable in the heat. After asking 6 times to have it fixed, they told us many times it already was or would be fixed by "2pm, 7pm, etc." We went to a manager to beg to be moved to another room and they said they would prepare one for us but when I followed up they said it was no longer available. We continued to follow up and eventually convinced them to move us to another room where it worked adequately. While we made the move they made many snarky comments about how the AC "wasn't good enough" but I promise you our room was 85⁰F+ for 3 days overnight and we were barely able to sleep in it, and if you read other reviews you'll see I'm not the only one with this problem.
A few other things that standalone wouldn't be that big of a deal but all added up were more significant:
- The hotel shuttle from the airport took 3.5 hours to get to the hotel, and the booking made it look like we'd be in a smaller van but were in a huge bus with many other hotel stayers that required us to make 5+ stops. On the way back was only 1.5 hours so we got to the airport extremely early.
- One night there was a power outage for a few seconds.
- We left a tip for room service but the bell boy took it before we checked out.
- They were out of mint, banana, cucumbers, the entire 5 days we were here - some of the key ingredients on their drink menus. They were also out of olive oil at the Italian restaurant.
- Food in the buffet was barely labeled.
- Someone in our group got food poisoning and the nurse station ridiculed him for asking if they had anything to help his dehydration, saying they're only there for emergencies.
- Many workers seemed annoyed with us when we went to eat dinner or while picking up towels.

Alert!!! My Military service /Veteran family & friends, first, thank you for your Service. I wanted to warn you about this Hideway in Negril, Jamaica. This has started out to be the worse place to visit. We are currently staying in a Junior luxury suite diamond club room. We expected a King bed; they gave us a room with two queen beds. The air conditioner units in our building are out! The rooms are hot and not even the hot water is very hot. It’s 1/19/2024; stay away from here! Many of the amenities at this resort are inoperable at this time, more example, blinking lights in our room, the beach spa is closed for renovation, casino machines not functional, room service took over two hours! All this and we have been here for less than 24 hours! My wife who also is a Veteran wanted to come here for her birthday “20 Jan” and our 20th wedding anniversary. They plan to move us to a different room (in the same hot building) but otherwise there has been no mention of accommodations for our inconveniences or discounting our expenses. So Veterans pass this on to our large Veteran community: protect your time & money and don’t come here! You heard it 1st from Sergeant Major (R) Horton and you know it’s horrible if I paused to WARN my brothers and sisters. God Bless

DO NOT STAY HERE !!!
If I could give -0 stars I would ! We were here for a wedding this past weekend and everything that could’ve went wrong did go wrong !
Broken elevators, broken escalators, bad plumbing ! The list goes on & on ! Save yourself a headache ! Seriously !!
This was a terrible experience ! I have never been to a “luxury” resort that wasn’t luxury! You pay $2500 for 4 days and they run out of food ? The alcohol is disgusting it’s all bottom shelf ! There is not authentic Caribbean cuisine. The staff is not friendly at all ! There is no customer service. Please save your money and don’t stay here. It’s a waste of time and money. You do NOT get what you pay for ! Very disappointing and upsetting.

Had breakfast at the buffet and there was a piece of plastic in the roll. Besides that the rooms are outdated. The drinks at the bars are bad.

Very dissatisfied with the Hideway resort. Both staff and Managers blame each other for errors. Poorly managed and there is a lot of theft of personal items from the rooms.
