Lavendish Wild Safari

Great location with beautiful view of the lake and overlooking mountain ramge. It’s also the best hotel located close to Wasgamuwa National Park. Food is amazing here, one of the best local food we ever had in Sri Lanka, especially the Vegetarian Set and Sri Lankan breakfast! The staff were also courteous and efficient, although some of them don’t speak English, but it wasn’t a problem for us.

A clean and welcoming place with a wonderful staff who made one feel at home straight away. Situated approximately 7 minutes away from the park entrance, I would recommend anyone who plans to take in the park on two or three occassions during one stay and doesn't want to 'rough it out' in the park bungalows, to stay here.

This was such a lovely experience. Irani the receptionist was so lovely and kind who greeted us all very warmly and made the experience feel extremely homely.
The views outside our room was stunning with a gorgeous lakeside view, some lovely swimming pools and cool Lankan tree houses.
The food was amazing, with top marks to the kitchen team for organising freshly cooked meals for us.
Highly recommend staying at this safari hotel for a great experience.

Stayed at Lavendish in August of 2022. Very clean and nice hotel. There is a nice pool to relax and overlooks a lake with the knuckles mountains in the background. It is very serene and beautiful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are also good.
Staff are incredible! Very obliging and friendly. We had the most lovely stay because of their wonderful hospitality. The food was delicious, they really went above and beyond to make our meals amazing. Mainly srilankan cuisine and done incredibly well.
They helped organize a full day wasgamuwa safari and were very helpful and flexible with all our requests.
Would definitely visit again if we are coming this way and recommend to anyone visiting.

Stayed with family while visiting Wasgamuwa National Park. Basic hotel, decent food. Nice views overlooking the wasgamuwa lake and a pool. Staff friendly and helpful. There weren't many guests when we were there - so it was homely. Safari jeep, driver and tracker for the afternoon cost Rs. 10,000 via hotel. We saw elephants having their evening meal and walking around up close, many birds, peacocks, spotted deer. The park has a nice visitor center with skeletons of animals and knowledgeable staff. Worth visiting as well.

Very unique view of matale mountains and locate nearby to a lake. Staff was very hospitable and their reception is also very friendly. They also helped to arrange Wasgamuwa jungle safari from the hotel. Food is also tasty and attractive. Room condition is quite good and comfortable.

Beautiful views and very convenient location inside the park but the meals stole the show- we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the hotel!!

Had a great experience with my family at the hotel. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were in superb condition and spacious. Buffet was good considering the hotel chargers.
One of the main attractions in the area is of course the Wasgamuwa National Park. You can hire a safari jeep from the hotel. If you are lucky to be at the right place right time you'll get the opportunity to see wild elephants and occasionally a leopard among many other animals.

I have been in this hotel before the management changed as well and I have stayed at this place few days ago. I must say this place has been improved a lot. Staff is very helpful and food is amazing. Rooms are clean and calm with a good view. Toilets needs to be bit clean and I couldn’t find the complimentary. Overall I am super happy with the place. Thank you for the amazing stay. Again I love the way how staff wanted to help us and gave us 100%

Nice place to stay near by Wasgamuwa national park facing to the wasgamuwa lake. Room and bathroom very cleaned .Very delicious good quality meals.

The perfect place to stay if you want to take a safari tour in the national park. Spacious clean rooms, attentive staff, well maintained swimming pool. Peaceful and quiet atmosphere with an amazing lake view! 100%relaxation in 3km distance from the National park.

We were originally only going to stay for two nights but ended up extending our stay. The hotel is clean and very comfortable and the staff was amazing. They helped us book our safari and were very attentive and friendly. Couldn't recommend it enough, definitely a must do if you are heading into the park.

Avoid going through nippon bridge if you are traveling by car. Only trucks can go through those speed bumps.

Food was awesome. Thought dinner taste the best, but in the morning noticed breakfast is the best, but finally figured lunch was the best. Keep it up.
