Ratanabon Pagoda

A huge Buddhist stupa which was located in the heart of Rakhine and was built in 1612 by King Min Khamaung and his wife. it is said to have jewels and images enshrined in the central stupa, but none have ever been found. By all these features this place is important in this region.

"Pile of treasures”
The name Ratana-Pon translates to “pile of treasures” or “accumulation of treasures”. The pagoda that is also known as Yadanabon is a bell shaped stupa rising to the top in a number of receding concentric tiers. The 61 meter high pagoda is topped with a spire called chattra. The central stupa is surrounded by 17 smaller stupas.

The solid pagoda is constructed with blocks of sandstone. It does not have an entrance and lacks any ornamentation, niches or images of the Buddha. It is guarded by four sandstone Chinthes, mythological animals that look like lions. The Ratana-Pon is surrounded by an octagonal wall with an entrance to the South. It was heavily damaged when it was hit by a bomb in World War II. It has been fully restored to its original design.

ရတနာပုံစေတီ

ရတနာပုံ​စေတီက​တော့ အံတော်သိမ်ပုထိုးရဲ့ မြောက်ဘက်နားမှာ တည်ရှိတာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒီ​စေတီ​တော်ကြီးကို ဘုရင်မင်းခမောင်းနဲ့ မိဖုရားရှင်ထွေးတို့က ​အေဒီ (၁၆၁၂)ခုနှစ်မှာ တည်ထားခဲ့တာလို့ သိရပါတယ်။ ​စေတီတည်ထားစဥ်က ရတနာသုံးပါးကို ပုံအောကာ စေတီတည်ထားတာမို့ "ရတနာပုံစေတီ"လို့ ခေါ်တွင်ခဲ့တာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Careful of the monk who asks for money for eye surgery. Monks' needs are usually requested for by the temple not the individual. He was very aggressive. Nice chedi.

멀리서 바라볼 때 아름답게 보이는 탑으로 주변의 유적지나 마을을 오갈 때 길잡이 역할을 하기도 합니다. 탑주변의 너른 풀밥에서는 마을 사람들이 나물을 채취하기도 하는 정겨운 모습을 볼 수도 있습니다.
