Tajau Laut Guesthouse is a simple accommodation but tick every boxes. A very kind & friendly host, room with basic amenities. Drinking water, fridge, kettle, free flow tea & coffee. It is good enough for us.

For the amount of money we paid, this guesthouse worth every single cent. Room overlooking the sea, watching beautiful sunrise & going to bed listening to the sound of the waves. What is there not to like

Tajau Laut Guest house is a perfect place if people want to have a short gateaway from busy city. The ocean is just in front of your guest house. Very quiet place and close to nature.

Such an amazing place to stay! We loved every minute of our time there. Udey, the host, was super friendly and helped point us in the direction of many awesome sights.
Such a wonderful experience!

If you're looking for total immersion in Borneo, where you can relax, enjoy magnificent beaches on your own or with your family, savour fresh, home-cooked meals, meet a very welcoming family, take part in tailor-made activities with the local people, then this is the place for you. I had only planned to stay for one night, but I extended my stay, even with the bad weather.
And, of course, you'll have to give up some of your usual comforts...

For the money it is excellent. Being from overseas (Australia) and being the first village we stayed in there were some culture shocks at the start but the snorkelling off the beach is top notch.

Pros: Owner very accommodating, did our washing and bought some fruit and other supplies when he went to nearby town, organised a day tour to Secret Beach and tip of Borneo. Good accommodation for families/groups, we used 3 double rooms in the main structure and separate double room for 7 people including 75 year old parents, everyone was happy. Dinner provided was always delicious, varied and ample.

Cons: main downside is that all the beaches are highly polluted with rubbish, mainly plastic. We were unsure if this comes from nearby or far away, maybe even other countries but it is a shock if you haven't experienced it before. Apparantly the locals do regular clean ups. When we went to Secret Beach it was clean, the people there told us they have to clean it every day and the next day it is like they did nothing. So not the locals fault it seems but still something that will make the beach much less appealing. Second, the stray dogs that are everywhere will keep you awake with barking much of the time so bring earplugs (they do not come near people so we had no safety concerns for kids). The rough waves on the first night also made a lot of noise as the water comes right under the house and breaks against the sea walls.

The main plus for me was the amazing reefs that are about 200 metres swim from your front door. The equipment the owner provided was great quality and near new. If you are a keen snorkellee or a beginner you should find something to keep you happy here.

It's truly awe-inspiring. Despite having been here for just one night, the morning view is absolutely spectacular. I had the privilege of witnessing a breathtaking sunrise at the early hour of 6:15 am. Honestly, this place serves as a haven for healing and rejuvenating oneself from the hectic pace of life.

If you like to escape to remote places and drop out from the world for a while then this location is ideal for you. The owner can help with transport from Kudat to the guesthouse. Once there don't expect to have any signal from your phone service provider. But that's the point of going there, to be away from technology and experience a simpler calmer life in a fishing village for a while.
Breakfast is included with your room. Additional home cooked meals can be provided for a small price. The food is local fare, mainly fish, vegetables and rice. Simple but tasty. There are no options for vegans/vegetarians.
If you are inclined to snack I would suggest bringing them with you as there is only 1 small stall in the village with only a small selection of sweets and snacks or kopi sachets.
Some of the family members are certified for snorkeling activities.
The cabins were clean and comfortable and the family welcoming.
Unfortunately during my stay the annual high tides and rains caused some damage to the guesthouse facilities. It seems to be a problem that the family stoically deals with every year. I hope that they can complete the repairs quickly so that they can welcome guests again, as they deserve to be rewarded for the effort they put into running this enchanting guesthouse.

You won't make a mistake if you stay here in that cute little authentic Bajau Laut village! The children will be so happy to see you! ♥
The guesthouse is on the beach front, breakfast included, tea and coffee all day long. Optional lunch/dinner for RM 15 (vegetarian possible too).
There is a good snorkeling spot just in front. We even got to see a sea turtle.
Come here, relax and enjoy! Wifi available.

It was an amazing experience. The guest house is located in a very quiet village, perfect place for privacy and relaxing.

The host was very chill and helpful, and we enjoyed his company a lot.

The beaches around are amazing, when the tide is up you can hear and even see the sea under the ground of the terrace

Owner very friendly, it felt like home. The place around 20 minute to the tip of Borneo by road. But you can see it from there and maybe go there by boat or kayak. They offer few activities including fishing, diving, snorkeling and kayaking. A perfect place for stargazing , relaxing and bbq. Recommended for solo travelling or with families and friends. Oh they let you use the kitchen freely , just keep it clean and tidy . Recommended 100%

I gave 5 stars according to the cost/benefit and conditions. It's a bit remote place in front of the beach very calm and relaxed rustic place. I got a private room and wake up with the sound of the sea was amazing. The view from the room ( opening the door ) was also very pleasuring. The owner of the place is VERY friendly and tries his best to help the guests. The free breakfast is also not bad. The bad part is the toilet being not the easiest to access and the beach sand was not clean with a lot of rubbish.

Although we used a lot of time to find this place, still worth it. The owner treat us so well. He showed us the easier road to kudat, as the guest house don't have Wi-Fi and digi line. Luckily celcom can be used there.
