Kim Laksa Balik Pulau

Come for the assam laksa. The broth is sharp and flavoursome. Over shadows the siam laksa which is an acquired taste I think. Drink service was good too. Still reasonable prices. We ordered some roasts from next door. Also good.

Fab laksa! Must try when you’re in Penang. Amongst all, I personally think this is the most authentic and true to the original Penang Laksa taste. Love the 🍜 and also Auntie Kim is super friendly and ready to explain everything. She is also a super person, she is the chef 👩‍🍳 , the cashier 💰 , the promoter of her food and also the sweet titbits that looks like durian soft candy 🍭

I never fail to drop by at this shop if I am near this side of the island. I would rate this as the top 2 assam laksa. Had to take away as the street was crowded for an event that day. First time trying the Siam Laksa. Tasted unusual but pleasantly nice...like otak otak in noodles. A little creamier soup compares with the assam laksa but both were flavourful and fragrant. They were generous with the ingredients at RM5.50 each packet. Worth the 20 mins drive here from Bayan Lepas.

Place is limited, laksa and nutmeg drink is the best food to recommend here. The Malay cake with wrapping coconut also very nice. Normally weekend or holiday will full seat.

Excellent assam & siamese (lemak) laksa. Refreshing nutmeg & sour plum juice. Service is friendly. Open air, non-air conditioned. Portions are smaller so you get to enjoy one of each type

Depending on when you last had your "Kim" laksa, these bowls may taste differently than what your memory serves.

These were the current Nam Guang Kim Laksa, and there’s also the previous Nam Guang Kim Laksa at Kim Seng kopitiam.

I had the lemak laksa. My mom had the asam laksa, and she preferred it to be more tangy. I thought it lacked a bit of the fish punch in the broth.

The kopitiam has a strict rule on bringing in outside drinks. Each person will be charged RM2 for any bowl of ice-kacang, soya drink or ikat tepi. Even if you’ve ordered drinks from them? I wondered.

Both asam laksa and laksa lemak bowls cost RM11.

Laksa is the best in this area. Adventure Challenge: Try and order the mix laksa. The idea here is to order half Assam laksa and half lemak laksa(siam laksa). Drinks : order the "lau haur white" / White Nutmeg. It is much thicker / powerful. Try it

Today is replacements holiday and so crowded at lunch hour.
Lucky still have the parking slots.

Visited here a lot times, but always managed to get Siam Laksa. Need to be early , after lunch hour usually left Asam Laksa.

I have finished the whole bowl.
The shop tables are fully occupied, so have to sit next door cafe which is allowed. You just make sure you order the drink at the next door cafe.

Foods are allowed to cross over between cafes but not drinks.

Nice asam laksa located in Nan Guang kopitiam, had a satisfying lunch here. Quite busy place, can sit next door as well. Parking space nearby. The toilet inside can pee cannot poo lol.

A delightful place to eat homemade Laksa - the owner (or the main cook) was very nice and smiling, and probably I don't have to mention after uploading the photo that Asam Laksa is just amazing! 😍🙏🏽🍜

I would say this is one of the best laksa in Penang. Will drop by here whenever I’m in balik pulau. This trip I came here for 2 connective days. The broth is rich. Nutmeg juice and pork knuckle are nice too

Good laksa in Balik Pulau. Personally I prefer this than the one at Ayer Itam. Lesser people. Service is fast both for food and drinks. Price is reasonable. Taste is also great. The combination of laksa and white nutmeg drink is definitely complementing each other’s taste and will bring out the best of each other. The challenge to come here is that it is hard to get a parking. You may pay rm1 for the guy managing the parking spot opposite Sacred Heart school.

Two types of laksa: asam (Penang style) and lemak - both really tasty but the asam laksa is the star- probably one of the best in the whole island. You can also order a mix of the 2. Another must have here is the fresh nugmet juice - it's different here in that they got the nugmet fresh from the orchard around the area and they juice it. Nugmet in other places in Penang tends to be a cordial (they cook the nugmet in sugar, and it turns red) - so it's sweeter and has a different taste.

Nostalgic to come here for Asam laksa. Its like a journey back in time. The laksa is pretty decent with a lot of sardines.

Nice authentic laksa at Penang. Aunty was very friendly and kind. I love her Laksa so much. The drink was purely extracted from the fruit. Nice and recomended. The area here felt so comfortable although was a bit hot.

The original laksa taste. Original without coconut “Ah Sam Laksa” is highly recommended, very tasty and better than Laksa with coconut. Friendly staffs.

I can say this is one of the best asam laksa in Penang, theirs have slight sour taste in it which is to my preference.

The best laksa i had so far, a bit small place and lot people. but it was fast going in and out.. worth it.

try thier signature drink too, it was so refreshing.
