The KK International Airport has the necessary F&B outlets and retail shops to keep you entertained as you wait for your flight. Disclaimer: During the day, that is. 😆

More importantly, there is a taxi counter at the arrival hall where u can get a coupon for a fixed price to bring you to the city. Pay at the counter, grab a coupon, walk to the taxi station, and off you go.

If you decide to take an e-hailing service, you'll have to walk to Pillar 5 at Arrival Hall 3, which is past the taxi station. I would suggest that you find Pillar 5 before hailing a ride.

Thing to note - the average car is a small hatchback that sits 3 passengers with hand carry luggage. If you have check-in luggage, I suggest that you call for a larger car like an MPV.

One of the international airport in Sabah. Easy to check in. Clear signages for those who in and out from Kota Kinabalu. Easy kiosk system for Air Asia. Few ATM machines, car rentals booths, luggage wrapping services, dry and frozen seafoods shops, pharmacy and cafes.

A beautiful airport with fabulous shops but we (from the UK) found it really difficult to navigate. We also didn't realise that coming from Kuala Lumpur, that we would have to come through immigration, not that it was a problem, just long queues. Plenty of shops selling a variety of things including clothes, food, and large frozen fish - which was a little unusual but they were beautiful fish. Everyone was very helpful when asked - as always in Malaysia.

Great airport, efficient, clean, spacious with plenty sitting areas, small but good choices of shops outside and inside the waiting area. Water dispenser in front of every toilet. I wish every airport would be like this 👍🏽

Clean and easy to navigate. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. Smoking section outside. Pick up points for ride shares.

As a traveler who has had the pleasure of experiencing the top-notch amenities and services offered at this airport, I cannot help but sing its praises. From the moment I arrived, I was immediately struck by the immaculate cleanliness and tidy appearance of the entire facility. The attention to detail in ensuring that all areas, from the restrooms to the prayer room, were well-maintained and fully equipped with everything a visitor could possibly need, was truly impressive.

But what truly sets this airport apart from the rest is the range of amenities that are available to ensure a stress-free travel experience. The convenient self-check-in kiosks and well-organized baggage area make navigating the departure and arrival process a breeze. And for those looking for a little extra peace of mind, the baggage wrapping service is a game-changer.

But perhaps the most standout feature of this airport is its location, providing a stunning view of the majestic Mount Kinabalu. The waiting area for transportation is also thoughtfully designed and adds to the overall convenience of the airport.

Overall, I cannot recommend this airport highly enough. Its commitment to providing a seamless travel experience, combined with its exceptional cleanliness and stunning surroundings, make it an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling in the area.

Such airport! Very wow!
Limited food selection both before and after security. Nice souvenir shops on both sides of security. Clean terminal and bathrooms. Close and convenient to town... only around 10 MYR cab fare using Grab. Nice small airport, but well served.

KKIA, as it is known, is one of the busiest airports in Borneo and maybe Malaysia, too. They renovated the airport and it looks really good. Since the reopening of tourism, there's still a lot of empty shops inside the departure area. This is due to the high rentals from MAHB, which they should have provided special rates.

There's enough F&B outlets, with several fastfiod brands located here. There's also a Starbucks and frozen seafood shops here. The airport gets really busy on weekends, so it is best to come early for flights.

Not always crowded here, there are many stall and restaurants that you can visit. If you forgot to buy some ole-ole in Sabah Tamu, you also can found here and not expensive price too. There are comfortable and the toilet is clean and also there are two choices while you want using the toilet which is one side none pipe and other side have pipe. So very friendly for muslim tourist local and international. Have Fun!

KKIA is one of the most important gateway for Sabah. Located in the capital city of Kota Kinabalu and the nearest International Airport in the region. Good location. Upgrade some facilities will do.

Not many know there's a futuristic-looking library tucked in a quiet corner. There's a small collection of books and magazines. Kids will have fun with the puzzle toys and board games. You may use the computers provided at the IT station. Register to enter. Limited to 6 person each time. 25.1.2023

A small but efficient international airport.

I like the two big fans stirring air in the Departure Hall. They can indeed save substantial cooling energy. All airports and railway stations in tropical climate zone should have this carbon credit generator in place.

The airport is clean and tidy. Have all the facilities that user or tourist looking for such as toilet, prayer room, charging point, baggage area for weight and wrap, self check in kiosk. For the departure and arrival area, the place is easy to find and access. And the waiting area for transportation also convenient. The best part is from the airport we can see Mount Kinabalu.

Life after the pandemic is no longer the same. The same goes to this airport. Its not as happening as before. Somehow the surrounding seems 'empty' while I entering inside the premises. It almost feels like the airport services are almost at the end of the line. But either way, it still the well-known airport in Sabah and I love my memories here.

It’s an amazing airport.

So the arrivals and departures airside is a common area. They have Dunkin Donuts & Mary Brown at the airside of departures. And McDonnells & KFC at Land side.

There are a few other smaller eating options on both sides.

The check in was quick and so is the security and immigration is required.

Remember even if you fly from Sabah to West Malaysia (they will have Immigation controls)

The airport is a 15 minute drive to Imagico and 25 minute to Surya shopping centers.

So it maybe wise to go and come back if you have a longer transit time.

Kota Kinabalu is an interesting city - big yet the traffic isn’t all that bad.

The airport is nice and lively and gets its job done quickly.
