After trying both stalls, I think it's fair to say 东美is by far a better pick for street seafood snack. Service was quick, waiting time far shorter, food portion is more generous, the dipping sauce wins hand down. Although selection not as many but they did fantastic for what's on menu. No fancy advert needed. Don't come here expecting 5 star hotel seafood presentation, but come here to endulge the nostalgic tastes and feel of enjoying quick fresh seafood while siting on bench and stools in the small alley.

This is a very unique place in Melaka. Couldn't find it else where.
Based on my limited memory, this stall has been here for at least 40 years! That is when I'm still a kid. My father brought me there, now I brought my children there.
Still remember how the first owner look like - a man with only 1 arm... struggling for living by selling this clam beside the smelly drain, which is at the back lane of a roll of shop houses.
Now the business are so established and run by 2nd generation. Put aside hygiene, you will get some tasty local food under a very unique environment - sitting on a stool, beside smelly drainage, at the backlane of shop houses.
The crowd are huge especially during holidays and weekends. Better come early if you plan to drop by this place

Was there last night for 2 peeps. Didn’t know which stall to choose so I went with the majority and this was it. The tall Indian waiter was very helpful and attentive. He explained as best he can and pretty funny chap. Best service ever and I think he is the captain of this alleyway.
Food wise, can’t go wrong as everything is boiled. Some were over done but washed down with my BYO sparkling apple cider. Yep, no corkage and ice was free, did I get special treatment 🤔
In all 5 stars to service and 3.8 stars to food. The Sotong bakar (grilled cuttlefish) was awesome smoked grilled to perfection.
Had 5 different shellfish, advice not to order the mussels (green NZ mussels I think). Everything else seems locally caught.
Also find a spot not too close to the longkang (opened stale drainage) to avoid the unpleasant aroma. But I guess that’s the thrill of eating in an alley.
This morning didn’t get the runs, iron stomach or they do have running water in this alley. Who knows 🤷♂

The lala there is fresh and super good! The fried oyster is slightly expensive but very nice and smells good. The siham there was a little bitter and smelly, so it wasn't really to my liking.

The boss is very friendly.
Food is incredibly good. If you like shell based food, that's the place to go.
Lately, they have added many stuffs into the menu to satisfy everyone's taste bud.
And actually, now this stall has been renamed to Capital seafood. It used to be called Tong Bee, which is the founder's name.
Since a few years ago, there were two separate stalls selling the same thing. Probably the only different thing they can offer is the dipping sauce. I like the inside stall (Capitol seafood) better.

Still a must to go if in melaka area... Service was fast, and most important is the freshness of the kerang.. Al though quite expensive, but most important is the experience eating backlane sitting on stool..

Good longkang siham .. after a long wait. ;) cockels there are the rm3 small sized ones and the rm5 big sized ones. Big sized ones are really juicy.. beware it might be quite difficult to open!!!!

Their sauce and cockles cooked to perfection. The next stall capitol is still lacking compared to this.
