Louis Hartlooper Complex

I discovered this film house on Friday and it is beautiful! The facilities are perfect, to have a drink or eat something, it has different areas to sit, it's big and nice! The service is friendly, las salas have a good sound and screen, definitely recommendable to visit.

The Louis Hartlooper Complex (LHC) is a film and culture center in the Dutch city of Utrecht.
The LHC is named after Louis Hartlooper, a well-known and colorful person from Utrecht's film history.
The LHC is housed in a former police station from around 1927 on the Tolsteeg Bridge in the Museum Quarter.
Its possible to park your car in the area. The easiest way to reach it is by Train, bus or bike.
There are a few more bars in the opposite of the Louis Hartlooper Complex.

Great arthouse movie theatre, bar and restaurant in the old police station in my favorite part of Utrecht city center. Many more locals than tourists. Great choice of beers (including many local beers, e.g. from Maximus)!

This is a very charming and historical cinema located within walking distance of Utrecht city centre. There is a restaurant and cafe that serves drinks and food. Note that only drinks are allowed in the cinema. Seats are comfortable and there is a good selection of films. Staff are very helpful and attentive.

My Personal favorite movie theater In Utrecht. You are able to enjoy lunch and dinner in the same building that includes a restaurant and a bar with lots of delicious beers. In the start of every movie, there is an introduction to the director and the film you are about to see.

Intimate art house film theatre named after Louis Hartlooper, who in the silent film era explained the story lines shown on screen to Utrecht's cinema audiences.

Lovely lunch on their terrace. You can choose two toppings for the sandwiches, perfect for people like me who have a hard time picking what to have from the menu :-). They also always have a nice little treat like a chocolate or cookie that comes with your hot drink.

Very nice cafe/restaurant! Nice environment and also the waitress we had (7/10 between 17:00-19:00) was excellent! Very kind and always with a smile! :)

Very cozy and vintage atmosphere, I like that you can bring food and beer inside from the bar. All the film are in the original language with subtitles in dutch. Usually a person introduce the film you are going to see with a brief explanation. I would recommend it.

Always a blast of a time, cineville is great to use here and the restaurant food is good too

My favorite cinema in Utrecht. Best place for festival films. Features expat-friendly movies on evenings several times per month.
You can always enjoy local bar after or before your screening.

The best cinema in town and one of the best in the country. Great selection of films, very friendly staff, nice drinks, amazing cake (try the carrot cake and thank me later). The building is another big plus; amazing architecture.

What can I say? It's a piece of history, right at the tail end of the city centre. They have a lovely selection of art films and beyond for you to watch, a presentation about the history of the film and how it got made ánd some good beers.

Go here so often, so much fun and beautiful movies and an amazing building which is well decorated. A great place to eat something, watch a movie or drink with friends.

This place is a classic cafe+movie theater+restaurant all-in-one of Utrecht. It's right next to the museum quarter and Ledig Erf where the city emits a vibrant atmosphere. If you'd like to grab a few beers and see a movie or enjoy some delicious food, it's a good place to drop by. It's also accessible by bus directly from the station.

With Springhaver, this is the nicest place in Utrecht to watch a movie. Great food, very nice staff. Situated in the monumental building that formerly served as a police station. Great terras as well, excellent location.

Cosy and relaxed plus they show great films. Introductions to movies given by the staff (in Dutch) are interesting and informative. The complex used to be a police station. Take a closer look when visiting next time

LHC is such a lovely place to hang out for a drink just outside in the last rays of the sun, or watch an arthouse movie inside. I come there quite a lot, friendly people, great selection of movies if you're into alternative a bit.
