Café Tolhuis

Just a very lovely café. Not just the drinks are nice, the service and the food are above expectation and not expensive at all. The atmosphere is very cozy and unique traditional place. Highly recommended.

They don't have a menu in English, but the waitresses were helpful in translating and choosing your order. They serve really delicious things and the apple cake was amazing. The decor of the pub is very cozy and the atmosphere inside is very homely. It's great that we could experience a visit to a place for locals before leaving Hilversum

Their food is really really good. Hands down the best toasties and best burgers in town. My 7yo and 4yo love the Angus beef burger. They normally do not eat the vegetables in the burger but they ate them here so I am thrilled to bits. Great place to expand kids’ palates.

Great place. The grilled cheese might be the best I've ever had in a bar/restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, and when we asked for some tap water it was not a problem (we've encountered several places in Holland where they only served Spa Blauw).

The place is situated between two local roads, which makes for a lot of traffic, but we weren't bothered by it. There also seemed to be a lot of locals coming in for their daily coffee/beer etc, which is always a good sign.

In short: great stop for a cop of coffee/tea or quick lunch!

Popped in with friends for coffee on a very wet day and decided to have lunch too. Cosy inside; good outside seating; tasty and well priced dishes with a good menu range; dog friendly. Friendly, helpful staff. Recommended!

The place is completely renovated! The terrace is heated and perfect to sit outside on a call evening. Be is great! Nice appetizers. Did not have dinner. Gezellig!

I love this place, and wish I'd discovered it on previous trips to Hilversum. I didn't expect to find such wonderful tapas so close to my hotel, and in a VERY friendly environment. Last night, the Caprese salad was fabulous, as were the albondigas and the boquerones. Without even considering anywhere else, I came back tonight for another excellent Caprese, and gambas as good as I've had anywhere - sweet, garlicky, and with the snap they have when perfectly cooked. Be sure to get some bread to soak up all that goodness.

There is a new owner withba great vision. They are currently remodeling and hopefully can open in April 2021 if the corona restrictions are lifted.
