Chhomrong Cottage

We LOVE this cottage! By far the best in the village. The rooms are clean, food is incredible and the family run cottage is an ideal place to rest for the night. The chocolate cake alone is just one of the reasons you should stay here! Hot shower, best Dhal and lovely family. Will be coming back again!

I've done 5, 6 treks till today, but nowhere I've found such heart warming hotel owners. Believe me Sushila Aama has magic and she makes you feel you're with your mom. I would give million stars if it was possible. Highly recommended to anyone on ABC trek.

This review is long overdue, we stayed during October. The best place a stayed while trekking the Annapurna region. The hosts are so wonderful and caring. All food is orangic from her garden and tastes amazing. They also understand what vegan means and made all there food with so much love! Hot showers with good water pressure too. The views are incredible too. The perfect spot to stay on you way to base camp and even better to stay on your way back too rest your legs! Can’t wait to come back one day 💓

The owner (at that time, there was one young woman and her mom) was very helpful and friendly. It's nice and convenient to stay there. I stay before and after my trip to ABC. The old lady also shared her experiences when she met Dalai Lama. Every morning you can hear her bell during her praying time. I love to enjoy my morning coffee while seeing the mountain view, as you can see in the picture ~

At 9 pm this was the first lodge from ABC direction that was open and I am so glad we stayed here. The staff is truly nice, they prepared us dinner and treated us like old friends. Pizza in the Nepalese mountains really tastes like in Italy. Shower was not too warm but beds were, blankets were provided. And the view in the morning - spectacular. Highly recommended.

Incredible food and hospitality. The host was a really sweet lady. I would recommend this hotel/lodge to any traveller who wish to stay in chhomrong on their way to ABC.

I really liked this place. Nice and helpfull owners, great dal bat and organic vegetables from their garden. In the evening they start a heater and everyone sitting around

The reviews on TripAdvisor and the mention in the lonely planet trekking guide were not joking. After descending from ABC to Chhomrong in one day (16.1 miles and nine hours ) we stopped here as I had heard good things about it. It is lovely. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful family who spoke English, genuine, charming which put us at ease. After spending three nights sharing a shower with twenty other people over an open toilet we secured an ensuite room The beds comfortable, the showers hot with tons of pressure, we knew that we had made the right choice. Then came the food! ACAP have done an amazing job of standardising a menu across the Annapurna range where you can be guaranteed choice and a good meal anywhere. Chhomrong cottage goes one further This was the third time on the trek I had tried pizza. It struck me that it specified 'Italian pizza'. With a thin home made base and sauce with a lovely blend of yak cheese on the top, sprinkled with Italian herbs and a small amount of chili, this was an amazing pizza, served with fries made from home grown potatoes. Despite being full I had to try the chocolate cake and I'm glad I did, dark, rich and the perfect end to a meal. My wife had a potato curry which again was the best she had tasted despite eating dal bhat every day across the region. All I can say is if you are in chhomrong, stay here!

The rooms were spacious but like most places we stayed was basic,probably due to tour company choice saying that we had power in our room, hot showers and rom to dry and change,dining room was cosy and we were very welcome there and had heat in the dining room.

The perfect place to stay in Chomrong for so many reasons. First - it doesnt matter which direction you're going in, the location is ideal - if you're on the way to ABC then it means you cut out walking through Chomrong in the morning and make your days start extremely efficient. If you're coming back from ABC and you've just had to contend with the billion steps up to Chomrong then you'll weep with relief at seeing this as almost the first place you come back to. For us that was after dark having set off from MBC, up to ABC and back to Chomrong and my god was it an amazing sight. Second - whether you're arriving for the first time or returning having been before you will be greeted as a friend and made to feel as though you're part of the furnature and that can make all the difference. Finally and I don't think it needs repeating from previous reviews but I will anyway - the food here is unreal. The chocolate cake is an obvious winner which a reputation that rightly preceeds it, but the other gems here are the club burger which is ridiculously delicious, and the buff momos which took top place on our list. No really - my partner and I have a bit of a momo obsession and have enjoyed compiling a list of the best momos during our 3 months in Nepal. Chomrong cottages buff momos jumped to the top of the list (narrowly beating Mo 2s in Pokhara but do try these also...).
The rooms are lovely and warm and cosy and the shower hot. A no brainer for any stay in Chomrong.

Chomrong Cottage is the place to stay! It's run by the sweetest and most kindhearted family. They don't charge extra for wifi, phone charging and hot showers unlike most other guesthouses. And yes its TRUE- they were featured in Time Magazine for having the best chocolate cake in Nepal in 2010! Just what you need after a long and strenuous day of trekking. I also had their pizza and dal baht which were delicious. I went during off season (mid-June) so I had no problem getting a room with the view of Annapurna and Macchapuchre for an insanely affordable price. I suggest booking way in advance if you're planning on going during peak seasons. I can't recommend this place enough. I miss you already Chomromg Cottage!

Excellent hosts +++, food is delicious, amazing views, very clean and tidy. Excellent water pressure for hot shower. Would give 6 stars if I could but instead I'll stay extra days

Fantastic hosts, a lovely place to stay in an really lovely Gurung village. Attentive to all guests needs and very friendly. Lovely food and some special famous chocolate cake

The view was greaaaat!! The food here was absolutely best in the area!!(Dal Bhat), You can find the local taste of Dal Bhat here!! Cheers!!

My experience was the best, spacious dining hall, nice pizzas, and of course the Nepali wine was the best thing ever.

This place is perfect at the end of a hard vertical hike. Nepali hospitality at its best....hot shower, great organic food, comfortable beds and a gentle kindly host. We knew we were onto a good thing when the hard working porters came to stay here. The Dahl baht has endless top ups to feed the hungry traveller. The chocolate cake is WONDERFUL :)
And the view is breathtaking!
