The Sea Monkey Overwater Bungalows Bocas del Toro

Always wanted to stay at an over-the-water place. It was great. Bungalow is roomy, with full bathroom. I appreciated the ability to open the doors and let the outdoors in, but close them and turn on the air conditioning (bungalows 3 and 4) on hot late afternoons. Stacy was always responsive to requests or questions. Breakfast is delivered daily at the time of your choice, with 4 delicious choices. The village has many more residents than tourists, so that makes it more interesting. Several good restaurants within walking distance, and the wait staffs speak English.

The over the water bungalow was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed swimming off the deck; there was some trash along the shore so we showered promptly after swimming. The breakfast was delivered to our door and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The town is small but that is what we were looking for.

Just finished up with my stay here and it was a wonderful experience. Stacy was extremely responsive and helped us with arranging our water taxi. We were looking for a place that really captured the culture in Bocas, so if you’re looking for an immersive experience, this is the place to do it.

The view was incredible and made us feel like we had our own slice of the island to ourselves. The room was clean, the staff was extremely helpful in assisting us plan our excursions and we noticed some new bungalows going up that look super nice. We will definitely stay here again!!

Stayed here a close to a year ago. Had an excellent time! The island was friendly, the staff here are great! The food is the best you can get in the region of Bocas. Atmosphere is excellent. I had a very memorable week stay here with a couple of friends. Will definitely come back.

Oh my goodness! We stayed at the Sea Monkey in early October 2016. We were upgraded to the larger cabin. The cabin is located at the end of Old Bank. Very rustic. Super romantic, as the cabin opened up to an ocean view. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept on on vacation.

We got a tour of Old Bank and a cold beer as soon as we arrived. Stacy, the owner and Tom showed us all the best places to eat, etc in Old Bank. There are no roads in Old Bank, but a great path went all through the town. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for renovations, but there were plenty of places to eat nearby. We found some great restaurants during our stay in Old Bank. Panama is very inexpensive, as we were drinking local bottled beer for $2 a bottle! The locals were very friendly.

We stayed for three days and just loved this place. Being out over the water was so cool. We could catch a water taxi from our room. This is a B&B, so breakfast was delivered to our room each morning. Great local coffee right in our room.

Water taxis to Bocos Town were $3 each way. We will definitely come back to Panama.

If you prefer a more local experience, I definitely would recommend to stay in one of the Sea Monkey bungalows over the water! They have the best view and easy access to have a swim or just chill on the balcony. The staff is really kind and helpful and the breakfast is just amazing! In the evening you can just grab dinner at Sea Monkey restaurant or go to the other restaurants in the island.

Fantastic experience staying at and eating dinner and breakfast at the sea monkey! Stacey and Ryan were so responsive on Airbnb and friendly. Stacey even offered to do my laundry, which was amazing because I had been traveling for a while and didn't have time/a place to do it. The food was AMAZING. I had the salad and chicken wings for dinner and the french toast with a smoothie for breakfast. Wings were sweet and spicy with an Asian glaze and the salad was very refreshing with mint, basil, and local fruits added in, covered in a tasty homemade Thai peanut dressing. Restaurant staff were very friendly and they serve filtered water too! I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

We ate at the Sea Monkey for breakfast a few times and it was great! We were staying on Basti and our place didn’t offer breakfast. We happened to come here and came back a few times! We loved the French toast. We spoke with Ryan a few times. Great view, good food and friendly staff! We would definitely recommend coming and eating here :)

AMAZING!!! One of the guys on our water taxi (his name was Angel) recommended Sea Monkey to us and we were so glad he did. We were welcomed with big smiles and it was lovely to sit on the water on a quieter part of bastimento. We had thai curry and Yuangshao beer fish, my boyfriend had chicken wings too. The portions were filling and everything was so fresh and flavorful one of our favourite meals we have ever had. We wish we were staying on Bastimento longer to go back and try more dishes. Thank you very much :)

Beautiful location; very well worth a stay for the view alone, but the owners and all the people you will meet here will make the visit fabulous. The food (excellent) is the icing on the cake. Loved staying at the Sea Monkey.

Stayed and ate at the sea monkey. Ryan and Ian were incredibly helpful in planning our day and making sure we had all we needed to turn off and relax. Icing on the cake was the amazing food, so much so that we would eat only two meals a day- massive portions and spectacularly delicious. They bring their expertise from the Atlanta restaurant scene down to bocas.

We stayed three nights in a Cabana in Old Bank and had the pleasure to have breakfast here everyday! We ate dinner twice here and that was some of the best food we had in Panama!

wow, what an awesome place! After backpacking around to different locations and sleeping in several spots with paper thin mattresses we were really excited to come stay here! The bedding was absolutely amazing, it felt like sleeping on a cloud...not to mention the amazing views, service and food! Thank you so much for the amazing stay...we hope to be back

Sea Monkey is a lovely restaurant. We had the coconut curry and the pad Thai. Both were excellent. The setting is lovely and the staff are very nice

The food is amazing. I'm still thinking about the frozen banana, chocolate "night monkey". The restaurant is defiantly a must is you are in bocas. Thank you Ryan & Stacy!

Great food, chill atmosphere, right over the water, friendly staff. They had Italian, mexican, Thai, not mention great seafood!
