Park your car, purchase entry ticket and you are good to go inside this Museum.

The museum is surrounded by beautiful trees. The peaceful ambiance added an extra layer of charm to the overall experience. The artifacts are restored and maintained about 30 KM away from actual location and stored here.

The museum itself was well-maintained and thoughtfully curated. The displays were informative and engaging, offering a glimpse into various aspects of history and culture particularly about Buddhism, ancient civilization, culture, household items of those living at that time.

Overall, I would highly recommend this museum to anyone seeking a unique and peaceful experience with both friends and family. If you are a history enthusiast, you must visit the place.

If you love history, taxila museum is a go to place for you.
Nice, clean and tidy atmosphere.
Great and friendly staff members.
Ticket prices are very cheap.
They tell you at the door that taking pictures is not allowed but yet they are not very strict about that.
A very nice sitting place outside around the museum is also available.

The Taxila Museum houses an exceptional collection of stone and stucco sculptures representing the Buddhist Art of the Gandhara Civilization. Situated amidst Taxila's archaeological sites, it showcases a rich array of Gandharan artifacts.

The museum's core collection stems from excavations across Taxila Valley, including sites like Bhir Mound, Sirkap, Sirsukh, Dharmarajika, Mohra Moradu, Jaulian, Kalawan, Bhamala, Tofkian, Bajran, and Giri. These sites have yielded approximately 7000 artifacts on display, with an additional 30,000 preserved in the reserve collection. Among these are sacred relics of Buddha, sculptures, stupas, relic caskets, inscriptions, beads, jewelry, coins, tools, pottery, utensils, and architectural remnants.

The museum's strategic location amidst Taxila's archaeological sites adds depth to the visitor's experience, offering a tangible connection to the Gandharan civilization's artistic and cultural heritage.

You have to visit if in taxila. It houses some of the best treasures of the Buddha from Gandharan and Kushan periods. The guides inside will jump on you and ask for a fee at the end so 300 - 500 rupees should be enough.

It's good place to visit especially when you visit Khanur Dam with children. It's on main road and ticket is just 20 rupees per head. Parking fees is also just 20 rupees.

I happened to visit Taxila Museum in 1946 during our stay in Rawalpindi. It is really an eye opener and brings to light the life of our ancestors in those days. The tools, implements, coins, toys and statues of Buddha reveal the life of those days. Now I am 87 and live in Delhi but relish the life in Rawalpindi.
