Dating from 1370, the Mosque is one of the oldest in the region, and dates from the time when the area's populace converted in mass from Buddhism to Islam.

It has a Tibetan, Mughal and Persian style of architecture.

It takes 2.5 to 3 hours to drive from Skardu City to reach here.

The local language here is Balti but people can also communicate in Urdu. People here are welcoming.

Beautiful historical place to visit. The architecture is unique and in pretty good form considering how old the mosque is. It doesn't take more than 30 minutes to see every part of it. A quick stop is all you need.

The Chaqchan Mosque  meaning “The Miraculous Mosque”is a mosque in the city of Khaplu in the GB region of northern Pakistan. Dating from 1370, the mosque is one of the oldest in the region, and dates from the time when the area's populace converted en masse  from Buddhism to Islam. The mosque shares similar architecture as those built in the Kashmir Valley. It is a perfect blend of Tibetan, Mughal and Persian style of architecture.
The road to here is quite scenery and short from downtown khaplu the district headquater. The sceneries are just spectacular.

Architecturally, the mosque is a perfect blend of Tibetan, Mughal and Persian styles, and consists of a two-story cubic complex.
Semi-basement, ground floor with a turret atop.
The perimetral walls of the cubic structure are composed of wooden slabs stacked to form a frame with its void spaces daubed with clay or mud that is in fact this technology is similar to the Roman opus craticum technique. This method of construction is one of the oldest known for making a weatherproof structures and it is also suitable for harsh winter conditions.

Peaceful Historical and Beautiful Masjid situated at khaplu and easily accessible by any car. Wooden work is remarkable and splendid. It’s historical masjid more than 1000 year old and Imam of masjid is servings this masjid from many generations. The mosque is situated in Khaplu near Khaplu Forte. It is reportedly seven hundred year old. All the structure is made of wood which is painted with beautiful colors. According to the locals, workmen from Kashmir were employed to build the mosque. It's beauty and grandeur have survived many storms. The locals are very courteous and friendly who demonstrate a unique culture of Khaplu.

This mosque is located in a very lovely and magical neighborhood with a backdrop of snow covered mountains. Loved walking up and down Chaqchan road and interacting with locals. Posted pics separately.

Chanqchan masjid locally called Shaqchan masjid. was first Mandir. After syed Ali hamdani comes and all the people's convert into islam and also this mandir convert into masjid.. this is historical place at Mal, Khaplu Baltistan
