Russo Surfcamp - Vale Figueiras

I stayed one week at russo surfcamp and it was amazing. The staff and instructors are great, nice accommodation, good food and beautiful beach to surf.
Would definitely recommend it, also if you are traveling alone and never surfed before. Thank you for the great experience!

So I already spent two days here and I’m so looking forward to the rest of my stay! The place is surrounded by beautiful nature. Doing yoga in the mornings with this view is amazing. We do share rooms, and I don’t mind at all. The beach is beautiful, instructors are great and the food as well! And not to mention the people and the crew. It’s an over all wonderful experience.

Surf instructors are fantastic, much more technical and thorough than any surf lessons I’ve had in England. The instructors worked really hard to make sure we surfed in the best conditions and got 3 hours of teaching each day.

Yoga lessons with Lauryn were excellent too! A great way to relax and stretch out achy muscles.
Tonya and Russo are very friendly and welcoming hosts. They have great recommendations and knowledge of the local area.

The food was absolutely amazing. I’d highly recommend staying here to try some amazing local cuisine. Lots of food provided so you’re well fuelled for surfing days!

The surfcamp villa is situated in a beautiful national park- the views are amazing and a great escape from the city. The 8 person dorm room was very clean with inside/ outside toilets and showers. After surfing sometimes there was a queue for the showers but this wasn’t a big issue as we would take it in turns to make sure it was fair.

Excellent getaway for solo travellers. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here, I’ll be looking to stay again soon!

Spent a lovely week here as a surfer newbie. The surf coaches were excellent and the staff at hostel were always friendly. When you take the surf package you don't have to think about pretty much anything, just relax and everything is handled for you.

I have been to many surfcamps around the world (Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, etc) and Russo's camp is by far the best one I have been to 👌

Location:
The location is unbeatable, totally immersed in nature, close to the beach, with a pool and an incredible yoga deck overlooking the rolling hills and ocean 😍

Yoga:
As a yoga teacher myself, I can say that Lauren sequenced some amazing classes and was incredible at targeting all the sore spots students get from surfing.

Surf:
The surf teaching was also first class and the main reason I would come back here again. We had Luis who is incredibly thorough and passionate with his instructions and drills. You can tell he loves his job! He answered all my questions in depth, teaching us about the ocean, the topography, etc.. I definetly am more aware at bad habits I have picked up and how to progress further in my surfing 😊 The surf spot is also pretty much private so we got a lot of time to practice what we learnt without the stress of other surfers.

The Camp:
The camp is extremely well organised, with a set schedule, very clean facilities, healthy food, enough space to get some alone time and comfy mattresses!!

Overall, I will be returning and recommending this camp to all my surf buddies! 🤙🏼🌊

Best place to learn how to surf. Super friendly and patient staff, good rooms and everything is provided for you. Awesome because you do not have to worry about anything, can just book and enjoy. 10/10 recommend and will be back here in the future!

This place is wonderful! The camp is sorrounded by beautiful nature and you have a great view. The ride to the beach is only 10-15 minutes. Food is amazing, all the people are really fun and friendly. The surf lessons were really helpful - the instructors are professionals and coach everyone individually. Had the best time here and will definitely come back! :)

Russo's (and Tonya's, I'd say) is a lovely surf camp at an incredible location - amongst the green, rolling hills, with large skies, starry nights, and the ocean in the background. They have options for every budget - I stayed in a hostel room with six beds, which was perfectly fine. Breakfast here was my favorite: fresh orange juice, fruits, espresso, cakes, cereals, scrambled eggs. Their surf coaches were among the best I've encountered in my many years of trying (and mostly failing) to surf. Luis, who taught the intermediates, was always encouraging, always improving our technique and even towed me a couple of times when my arms were dead (thanks Luis!). Yoga with Lauren in the mornings, at the yoga deck, was magic. Friendly and helpful staff, an unpretentious and uncomplicated atmosphere. Will be back!

The location is beautiful. The staff is really organized and very nice. You don’t need to think about anything. The surf teachers are very knowledgeable. Overall an excellent experience. Don’t forget the mojitos!

It’s a beautiful place ! You won’t be disappointed, amazing location surrounded by nature, good food and most important great surf classes leaded by friendly and skilled team. I also met great people here, nothing but book it and get ready 🌊🏄🏼‍♀🏄‍♂

The best surf camp experience possible!!
The house is surrounded by nature and you have a constant sense of peace (further improved by awesome yoga lessons on a deck suspended over the forest).
The grandma cooking is perfect and the breakfast was one of the best we have ever had (even compared with 4 star hotels).
The surf instructor are great and take the time to give individual tips and encouragement. The whole time you feel like you are part of a family!

Beautifully located place. Very warm and cosy admosphere. Skilled and funny surfcoaches. Nice yoga lessons on the yogaplatform. Tasty food, nice music. Highly highly recommend it!!

I was in Russo surf camp for more then a week with my mom. The location is amazing: in the middle of green heels and a beautiful nature, close to couple of beaches. The staff is amazing, the managers and the instructors are professionals and care about good environment and good vibes in the place. Food is delicious: homey, fresh, healthy meals. Highly recommended, I had a great time:)

I really enjoyed my staying!! The surf guides were helpful and motivated and I was able to improve my skills very fast because of that. The environment was clean all the time, the food was good and tasty, especially dinner, and the atmosphere was happy and encouraging. Highly recommended and I'll come again for sure!

The room (single) was cozy and clean. The food was very tasty and I especially enjoyed the breakfast.
Surf classes were well organised and perfectly taught. Learned so much and it was always fun too. The beach where we surfed was beautiful and not too crowded.
Yoga classes were fitted to everyones needs after/before surf which was perfect. The yoga deck they built is so stunning and the perfect place to practice.

My stay at Russo’s was simply amazing. I was looking for a place to breathe before jumping into a full-time job for the first time. People are nice, have a good heart, and make you feel welcomed. You instantly feel at home, the place is quiet and beautiful, isolated from the town, with a view of the hills and the ocean afar.

I’ve experienced many surf camps and Russo’s people are BY FAR the most competent teachers you could dream of, whether you want to improve your surf as it was the case for me or just give it a try. (Props to Egor best teacher!!!)

The camp is 5min away from an amazing surf spot, rarely crowded even when conditions are great.

I sincerely recommend the experience. -because it’s way more than a mere surf camp- to anyone who wants to be surrounded by great people, nature, surf. A perfect place to take a break from the marathon that can be life sometimes!

And thank you again Tonya for the last-minute drive to the station, I owe you !!

Did a week long at camp and it was so good with great vibes that I stayed another week. The instructors are top notch and really take time to help you improve and laugh a little too.
This is a great place to learn or improve your surf skills, but it’s also a great place to meet some great new people.
I will definitely be back!!!!

I took my first surf lessons for three days here and i really enjoyed it!
The beach and the waves were great and the guide was nice and professional. It was a good mixture between excercises and theory. Safety was always payed attention to aswell.
The group was international and i felt a part of it, even though i did not stay at the camp.
