Islamic Settlement of Ponta do Castelo

Some ruins of an ancient Islamic fishermen settlement. Unfortunately very little remains and you won’t be able to make out a lot.
However the views on the surrounding cliffs, ocean and Amado beach are spectacular.
Well worth a visit.
This is one of the marked viewpoints of the Pontal da Carrapateira, with a long boardwalk that makes it a lot easier to reach the viewpoint.
Visiting before sunset is recommended because the beach and cliffs are amazingly illuminated.

A beautiful viewing point out on the cliff. Some ruins of an old fishermen village are visible on the side of the wallway.

Stunning view which is totally worth a visit. Just be carefully, there are many points where parts of the handrail are missing.

Wir sind die Straße oben auf den Klippen lang gefahren. An jeder Ecke war die Aussicht traumhaft. Hier allerdings dann ganz besonders. Bei Höhenangst kostet es ein wenig Überwindung, sich hier oben zu bewegen. Die Aussicht lohnt sich aber auf jeden Fall.

Sehr schöner Aussichtspunkt mit Resten einer Siedlung.
