Casa da Avó - Turismo de Habitação

Beautiful old building in a lovely, historic village that is nicely a little outside the Douro tourism mainstream, but still just a short drive from some great wineries.

- Friendly staff, I think each of the 3 or 4 folks I dealt with spoke English
- Contrary to previous reviews, good wifi
- Typical breakfast spread, some breads, cheeses, fruits and yogurt. The selection of fruit preserves was nice.
- Great village, and this is right next to the old church.

Downsides:
- Mattress/pillows pretty poor.
- Its a historic old home, so the walls are a bit thin. You'll hear folks if they are chatting in the hallway.
- No elevator of course, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues, but its just 1-2 stories.

Fantastic 19th century mansion with beautiful museum like decorated interiors and spacious rooms with fully renovated bathrooms. We had two balconies facing the Cathedral, which is a nice bonus to the rooms facing facade of the building. You can park anywhere around the city center, which is free. Shops and restaurants are just couple steps away.

Beautifully decorated mansion converted into a boutique hotel. The owner is lovely and helpful; I arrived 2 hours early but was able to check into my room. It was clean, with a beautiful bathroom and balcony looking over the courtyard with the douro mountains (and olive grove) behind.

What a lovely place. Old fashioned culture at is best. Totally recommend this place.

Great historic hotel.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft. Große Zimmer mit Austritt. Frühstück sehr reichlich mit Käse, Obst, Wurst und Marmelade. Es gibt einen Salon für den Aufenthalt sowie ein großes und kleines Esszimmer. Einrichtung standesgemäß mit allen Möbeln. Betten sind angenehm, keine durchgelegenen Matratzen. Bei Ankunft muss man klingeln um eingelassen zu werden.

Muito surpreendente e acolhedora, A Casa da Avó é uma linda e bastante preservada cada Secular, para Turismo de Habitação, onde somos recebidos com muito agrado e profissionalismo, e ainda um pequeno almoço de excelência. 🔝🔝🔝
