DOC - Chef Rui Paula

We were blown away by the attention to detail and quality of the food here! Every dish was packed with flavour and warmth which was perfect for a cold rainy day. The staff were also very knowledgeable about their wines and recommended a great white based on our preferences. Would recommend if you’re staying in the area!

What an incredible experience. Featuring an amazingly creative menu, truly dedicated staff, and astounding location right out over the Douro river. Recommend the 7-course prix fixe menu with the paired 7-course local Douro valley wine selection, including two wines custom crafted to match this menu. The presentation was spectacular, but the surprise ingredients and flavour combinations were extraordinary. 7 courses became 10 when the chef added 3 surprises. Just a fabulous experience all around.

Very well run, delicious food, they attend to several Dietary restrictions. On the big TV you can see the kitchen and the magic happening (although I can imagine that is super stressful for the staff?). Good wine selection.

We had an amazing lunch at DOC. The menu was paired with a vineyard we had visited before lunch. We had an incredible white wine and a wonderful red wine. We love the eel, the sea bass and lobster rice stew, the lamb and the chocolate dessert. It was a beautiful day and we ate outside by the Douro River. The service was outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant, our third visit over four years.

One of the best riverfront lunch spots in the Douro Valley. We got a table right next to the water on the terrace. The wine suggestions and food were all delicious. Presentation was colorful. I can't stress how peaceful the views were here.

What a great/scenic location, directly at the Douro with great views. The food was very good: creative meals, explosion of flavors. Selection of wine is endless. The staff is very professional, kind, friendly and is ready to help with food/wine suggestions. Good to know is that this is an exclusive restaurant, but the prices is really worth the quality of the experience. Parking is easy, directly on site. Without a doubt I’d recommend this place.

Had an amazing experience at DOC Chef Rui Paula. We were celebrating our honeymoon and felt so welcomed and celebrated. It really was a special meal! The food was delicious, and the staff was so helpful and attentive. The chef even provided a few extra treats for guests. We sat outside right on the water, with beautiful views of the Douro vineyards close by.

The food and service here were phenomenal with a beautiful view! We had the lamb and cod as main dishes. Both were delicious, but the lamb blew us out of the water! Some of the best lamb I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant.

dinner was great. But at the end they brought us like a mini strawberry marshmallow. This marshmallow changed my life. It was so small and so squish. And then it just like dissolved in your mouth and had the most wonderful strawberry flavor. Like real strawberry. It was amazing. I'll never forget mini strawberry marshmallow

Wow!! What a dinner! Michelin star all the way! Romantic, unique, special, full of flavors, emotions and more… just had a wonderful evening together with my wife, outside sitting in front of the Douro River, balcony and 30*C.
Wine list is unique only top selection, sommelier had great knowledge of the region.
Although tonight we didn’t go for the tasting menu…. We have decided to go a la carte… everything was perfect!!
This is a place to enjoy life, food and wine.
Just go!

Creative food and nice atmosphere. We ordered one tasting menu, 2 starters, a main, and a dessert. The food was all very good, but just one thing to note - the portions are very small because it is meant for tasting, and the service is good but food is served at a leisurely pace. Our lunch took us 2 hours 45 minutes, so don't plan for a quick meal here. They also brought several courses on the house, which was a nice touch - a couple starters and a palate cleanser before dessert as well as a few mini sweets at the end.

WOW! A gastronomic delight. We had the Signature tasting menu and Kati had the wine pairing (I was the designated driver 🙂, but still enjoyed a couple of glasses as recommended by the sommelier to suit my tastes). The food was elegant, but not pretentious, even a bit playful at times. The service was friendly and very attentive. The Douro Valley had already captured our hearts and this experience was the icing on the cake.

The food and service is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend the essence menu, and note you can swap a dish or two out should the options not 100% appeal to you. Stunning location, amazing wine and sommelier suggestions. A MUST see when in the Douro.

Not only is this the best restaurant in Douro, it's a great experience. The space is amazing and has views of the ocean. The staff is super nice, attentive and professional. The food is to die for! And it's a great value for money. A definite stop if you're visiting the north of Portugal!

Nice modern ambience with classic touch by the river view. Impeccable professional very attentive services to shine the dinning experience...unbelievably super flavors in every bites with creative presentation. Wine paring complimented every dishes....highly recommend....worth flying for...two Thumbs up!

Douro river on its own is a must to go and see, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've been to. And DOC restaurant makes the experience complete! Amazing terrace near the river, very good and personal service, very nice and refined food (also kids-friendly) and both the lady of the house and the crew were very kind and professional from beginning till end. The sommelier also very humble and helpful and on top they are using Callebaut chocolate for the desserts (best dessert ever according to my wife), a proof for the quality of ingredients they use. Many thanks for this wonderful evening, we'll be back.

Loved every single Moment of the dinner at DOC. The service was outstanding and every dish súper súper tasty! Really enjoyed the seabass and the complementary dessert, which was a real surprise. I would definitely go back if in douro again!!!

We went here as part of our tour with Douro Exclusive. Lunch at DOC was unparalleled our entire trip. Starting with the lovely sparkling wine, every taste and course offered a delicious, mouth-watering and surprising experience. This was truly the best meal of our entire three week vacation in France and Portugal.
