The restaurant was amazing in appearance. They had lots of little pigs on display from outside and glassed cased inside little pig displayed.

The staff was amazing, and our server spoke a little English.

The food was served promptly. It was tasty and nicely presented. We were a party of four and had immediate seating of our choice.

The food was excellent. The skin of our little pig was crispy and very tasty. We also ordered pig liver. It was my first time eating it, and it was great

I have to be honest, I don't believe I had a pork crackling better than this place in my whole life. This is for sure the best pork I had and the seasoning is perfect.
Best place to eat in the entire region (if not entire Portugal).

When in Portugal, do as the Portuguese do. And that means going to the restaurant that was the birthplace of the suckling pig lunch. So delicious! There was a small lineup already when we showed up a few minutes before noon. The suckling pig is sold at 49€ per kg and for 2 people the usual amount is 700g that is served with a simple salad and freshly fried potato chips.

Parking is across the street for this amazing restaurant. The fresh cheese, pre appetizers was amazing, super clean and fresh taste. 😍 the pig was delicious, best I have ever had to be honest. I never tasting anything so juicy and flavorful. I definitely recommend this place over the rest in the area.

Delicious pork, we asked for a platter for two it came with salad and fresh potato chips! We also got the fresh cheese, yum!, bread and rissois, and of course a bottle of tinto! We made it just before the crowd, the restaurant is large and there was a line of people waiting when we left. The service was great and I’d definitely go back again.

We discovered this place accidentally and we don't speak a single word of Portuguese. However, the staff were very friendly and helped us navigate our way to one of the most delicious meals in Portugal. If you are driving towards Porto, avoid the tolls and stop by this place for a fantastic meal!

We were travelling through and had heard about the reputation of this place having started the suckling pig trend in the town. We arrived quite early and were treated with friendly service and amazing food. We took the owners recommendation on the food and wine and both were spot on. The pig is really incredible. Don’t miss this bit especially. The portions are massive, and we struggled to eat ours. There are lots of sides served too.

Great staff, great food, great wine, one of the best. We had a speacial look around, how the pig are prepeared from the farm to the plate.

This is one of the most famous restaurants in Portugal. This place is very close to Coimbra, The best roast pork in Portugal.

Absolutely fantastic place to eat. Certainly not the cheapest place for Portugal, but the food quality is really good. The waiter Ladys a just lovely, and you will certainly find one who speak your language if you don't speak Portuguese.

Pedro dos Leitões is, for me, the best in class when the matter is eating Leitão. It has been my go to ever since I went there for the first time when I was about 12. The Leitão is phenomenal, the fries are very crispy and the sauce is delicious. The entries are also very good, starting with some Mealhada's famous bread along with Requeijão and some Rissois de Leitão. The desserts are also good, with some being homemade, but they are not the main attraction. The restaurante is usually busy, but the decoration is simple but yet traditional in a good way. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat some good Leitão.

Excellent food. My crisps were a bit soggy so I left them but lovely amount of salad a big enough portion of suckling pigs for 2 and excellent staff. Will visit again

If you go to Coimbra and want a full Bairrada region experience you need to go a bit further and stop at Mealhada for a “Leitão a Bairrada”. It’s a roasted piglet with crunchy skin served with salad and the famous Portuguese fries. All very well accompanied with a Bairrada sparkling wine and finished with a slice of “Morgado de Bussaco”, a multilayered walnut cake and a delicious regional egg yolk sweet spread. This place is one of the best and traditional in a road lined with restaurants.

What an amazing surprise. I had big expectations for the place but it got exceeded. The leitão is a must, deserts are outstanding. Only 7min from A1 which makes it convenient for anyone passing by.

The only dish you should order is the roasted piglet as all else pails in comparison to such great dish. You will find a fantastic crackling and a very tender meat that will melt in your mouth (and a pepper sauce that works wonderfully well with it). All accompanied with some home made crisps that will be the best crisps you will ever eat.

We had a great experience at Pedro dos leitões. We are definitely coming back for another lunch!

A must go when in Portugal if you like roasted piglet with crackling skin and accompanying it with a delicious regional white wine. However, one must have a designated driver as the wine quickly hits you.
