Maya Pilates Studio

Life-changing experience! Maya is a fantastic Pilates instructor. Her philosophy of ‘no pain’, ‘as little as effort as necessary for effective execution of healthy movement of one’s body’, and ‘no need to go to end ranges of movement, which often place unnecessary stress on joints’ have worked wonders for me in only about 10-12 sessions.

Initially suffering from back pain and some knee pain, she quickly diagnosed that my hips were not working for me, and my glutes not doing their job effectively. The assessment in the first session was impressive as was the plan to improve my spinal hygiene.

I have since learnt all about mobility – a world away from static stretching thank god – and how to better leverage my pelvis and hips as the fulcrum for motion, not my lower back and knees. I have also understood more about thoracic rotation and the use of correct breathing to open up my ribcage and effectively engage the core, which has only benefitted my back even more.

With her impressive breadth of knowledge of how the body works along with her ability to instantly find adaptions and modifications to certain movements that may be difficult initially, having 1-1 sessions with Maya is actually almost like having a personal physiotherapist at times!

Added to that is the pleasure of doing classes in a wonderful, clean, well-equipped, and spacious studio with an instructor who is committed and determined to help her clients improve/get better. Can’t recommend enough - 10 stars Maya, and thank you 😊!

Maya is an excellent Pilates teacher. She supports you to go at your own pace and abilities and does great stretches. She gives clear instructions and there's always a good mix of exercises targeting different parts of the body.

The studio: is spotless, spacious, private, with Jasmine smell and turquoise color deco. The moment you walk in you feel relax and calm. Maya plays classical music as background which stimulates your cognitive function.

The session: Only private sessions or for a group of 2. I came for the first time with a friend and we both enjoyed it. And I stayed in phuket longer. Have become a regular.
This is a clinical Pilates studio I would say. I had some posture alignment issue as well as office syndrome. My knee also had some issues from sports training from the past.
The first session started with some movement assessment and then she offered me a tailored training program focused on movement stability, restoring movement practices and training for my upper body and back to provide more support for the spine.
I loved all the sessions. It’s fun, focused, calm kind of Pilates you will never find from a gym or even some bigger studios.
The only downside I would say, it’s in Rawai only. Since I moved to bangtao, I have been traveling 50 mins by car twice a week to Rawai only for the Pilates sessions.
Highly recommend it for anyone who’s looking for a good professional Pilates trainer in phuket.

I was travelling in Thailand and was staying close to Rawai when I found Maya. I’ve suffered with back pain for a few years from an old injury and had been recommended Pilates. I spoke with Maya and while travelling I had 2 private classes with her per week, over a few weeks. She is an absolutely fantastic teacher and has helped me more than I can say. Her studio and equipment is clean, well maintained and very good quality. Her teaching and care is second to none. I would highly recommend. The only down side is I don’t live here!

Maya’s skills enabled me to reconnect with my body. As a result, I became more aware of the vital link between breath and movement and focused on body alignment and posture. It was a pleasure working with her.
