Alquilamos en mayo tres motos durante dos días y todo fue fenomenal.

El trato fue excelente y profesional. Tienen opción de alquilar las motos con seguro a un precio muy razonable cosa que recomiendo.

Nos dejaron poner dinero como deposito en vez de pasaporte y pudimos bajar bastante el dinero del deposito para no tener que sacar dinero.

Todo perfecto, los recomiendo 100%.

The scooter we rent was totaly fine. We brought the scooter in the same conditions back (there was one mini scratch at the bottom of the scooter from us). The lady there told us, that we have to pay 3000 baht for this scratch. At the moment we told her that we don‘t pay that, she got pretty angry and walked away. After 30 minutes discussion and 1500 baht later we finally got our passport back. So don‘t go there and if you go there, make sure that you have good pictures from the scooter before you rent it!

The scooter was fine but when we returned it they ripped us off. We had to pay 2000 baht for scratches we didn't do. Because they take your passport as a deposit, they've got you by the balls.
We sadly had no time for the police.

HYSTERICAL & SCAM LADY !

She won't hesitate to throw a fit and blackmail you with your passport to extort money from you. Save yourself some time, trouble and bad memories: GO AWAY !

And you don't have to go far: the neighbours (scooter hire and laundry) are super nice and friendly ans happy to help!

We truly regret not reading reviews for this business prior to renting a moped. Unfortunately, all of the previous low reviews are accurate and I would highly recommend NOT renting a bike from here. They will try charging you thousands of baht for any small minor scratches on the bike. Negotiate firmly to bring the cost down, and maybe look into calling the tourist police if need be.

Short Summary: Don't rent a scooter at 'VAN TRAVEL' it is a rip-off (well known in Koh Tao) where they charge you horrendous amounts of money for minor scratches on the bikes that you didn't even produce when you want to bring back the scooter. If you don't pay they will keep your passport.

To the details:
Basically they will let you rent their bikes for a cheap price like around 150-200 Baht/Day. As a deposit you must leave either your passport or a few thousand Baht. Now here's the deal: when they have your passport (which you should definitely not give them) they hold a lot of power over you.

When you bring back the bike they will check every little scratch they can find and will charge you a horrendous amount (a few thousand baht). Even though you didn't do any scratches and you didn't cause an accident they will still accuse you. (Unless you made very, very clear pictures of scratches that have been there before - although in my case they still didnt acknowledge my pictures)

If you don't pay them the money they want, they will not return your passport and you can't leave the island.

Solution 1: If you stay at a good Hotel or Resort, you can usually rent a scooter with them aswell for a higher price of around 250-300 baht. It's obviously a little more expensive but they won't charge you stupid amounts for minor scratches thay you didn't even cause.

Solution 2: When you want to take the risk and rent with them (Van Travel) or other cheap scooter rentals which i certainly advise you not to do - at least take very detailed photos of every single minor scratch you can find. Go through those scratches with them (maybe color them on a sheet of paper that they keep. When bringing back the scooters, count in 1-2 days in advance until your ferry goes back to Koh Samui so that you have enough time to deal with them if they won't give you your passport. You can go to the local police station and ask them for help. They know that these rip offs happenly frequently and can maybe help you.

We had a police man (which was our friend through some circumstances on the island) talk with them on the phone which brought down the price they charged us for the scratches....

I usually never write reviews and i don't like to take "revenge" by doing so but this should just be a warning sign for other fellow travelers.

The lady who rented a bike to me was one of the worst people ive ever met. Really dishonest about a few things we discussed, and when proven wrong, she treathened to call the police on us. Finally she called her son or whatsoever that screamed on us too with the most broken english i heard in my life. This place just scams tourists.

You should really go somewhere else.

Unfortunately we did not check the reviews. We also got ripped off for 3000 bath afterwards. They checked the scooter with 3 people and charge for minor things. This is the first time in tailand that we got scammed.

Do NOT rent a scooter here.

The worst place I’ve ever rented anything from. As other reviews said, they will try to squeeze out outrageous sums of money for a small scratch on the bike.
Additionally, I would not trust them with my passport - I got mine back but after a while I noticed that it had a bunch of ink stains on the back.

I had a near miss when a bike came hurtling towards me and mine went over and damaged the plastic exhaust cover and a few scratches. The woman tried to charge me 11,000 bht! For a 200bht bit of plastic, and was holding my passport the police had to be involed, awful woman

Scammers.

The lady was frothing at the mouth looking for any slight scratch. The smallest scratch (caused by rocks on the bottom, normal wear and tear) and she was trying to get thousands of baht from me. Lol. If you're seeing this after the fact, go to the police.

We took photos before too but she didn't care.

Do not go here no matter what. Pay a little bit more and go to a place with good reviews. You'll thank me later.

Wouldn’t go there!! As other people already reported, you have to sign a contract with ridiculously expensive costs for repairing a kinds of damages. If you don’t want to leave your passport, what you should NEVER do, i had to leave a deposit of 6000 baht!!

Tried to charge 3000 baht after I rented out a bike for a week for a tiny (maybe 1cm) cosmetic dent. Ended up accepting 1500 baht.

Do not rent a bike from them its a rip off ,they charged me for 15000 for a few minor scratches ,it started with an amount of 30000 and after bargain it came up to 15000 if u dont pay this i will bring the big boss for u ,mafia style dont get make my mistake and rent from them

I always rely on google reviews but not this time. I still regret my decision. Avoid this place at all costs

Oszustwo! Scam! Agresywni właściciele!
Firma znana jako "LLL" lub "Van Rental", "Van travel", lub pod innymi nazwami, które prawdopodobnie wymyślają i zmieniają.
Właściciel "złapał nas na ulicy", podjeżdżając na skuterze i dając dobrą cenę na skuter (niby negocjując).
Bardzo mili i życzliwi przy wynajmie. Gdy zaczęliśmy szukać opinii o miejscu, skłamali, że opinie się nie wyświetlają, bo mają więcej punktów i tego "akurat nie widać".
Gdy zaczęliśmy czytać opinie tego miejsca zrezygnowaliśmy z wynajmu.
Kobieta KRZYCZĄC na nas i przeklinając chciała WYSZARPAĆ kartkę z umową mojej partnerce, na której były moje dane. Później próbowała nas dosłownie rozjechać skuterem agresywnie wyganiając i trąbiąc. Omijać szerokim łukiem, jest wiele innych porządnych miejsc na Koh Tao (zobacz moje inne opinie).

Tragiczne miejsce!! Podpisywaliśmy już papiery na wynajęcie skutera, kiedy mój partner znalazł w google to miejsce i zobaczył jak okropne ma opinie. Powiedzieliśmy Pani, że rezygnujemy, bo mają bardzo złe opinie i wpadła w szał. Krzyczała, wyrywała mi papier z umową który trzymałam w ręku (chciałam go zabrać, bo były tam nasze dane osobowe), a na koniec wsiadła na skuter i straszyła, że mnie potrąci!!! Dziękuję Wam ludzie za te opinie, bo dzięki nim udało nam się uciec od oszustów. NIE WYPOŻYCZAJCIE TU!!!!

Würde es weniger als 1 Stern geben, würden wir definitiv keinen einzigen davon geben.

Bei Abholung waren die Vermieter (Täuschungsweise) sehr freundlich. Es wurde ein Personalausweis und 3000 bath als Kaution verlangt. Soweit alles gut, ABER...

Wir haben kleine Kratzer durch versehentliches umfallen des Rollers im Stand am Auspuff verursacht. Als wir zurück kamen,
haben sie deutlich mehr mängel festgestellt (Kratzer unten am Roller - nicht von uns verursacht).

Sie zeigten uns eine Willkürliche Preisliste, was wir zu zahlen haben ( 8.000 THB) für 3 kleine Kratzer. Dies akzeptierten wir natürlich nicht, da das viel zu teuer wäre. Dann wollte sie uns einen Nachlass auf 5000 THB geben. Haben wir auch nicht akzeptiert und drohten ihnen mit der Touristen Polizei. Auch hier lies die Vermieterin nicht mit sich reden und wir sind daraufhin zur erwähnten Touristen Polizei gelaufen (7Minuten zu Fuß), die uns SEHR GUT geholfen haben. Am Schluss haben sie uns den Preis auf 2000 THB runtergehandelt, was natürlich auch noch viel zu teuer ist. Aber zumindest habe ich so meinen Personalausweis wieder bekommen und statt 8000 nur 2000 bath gezahlt.

Wir würden Raten, Diesen Roller Verleih definitiv ZU MEIDEN, da das eine Reine Abzocke ist!!!!!!!!

Attention arnaque! Si je pouvais donner aucune étoile je le ferais..
Ils font payer la totale pour des égratignures de peintures. Une fois le retour effectuer la propriétaire nous a sorti une facture de 20 000 bahts. Propriétaire froide et sévère. Presque dans l’intimidation. Ne laissez pas votre passeport .. elle le tiendras en otage pour avoir le plus d’argent possible. N’allez pas là! Allez chez son voisin beaucoup plus advenant et agréable. Attention aux scam scooter sur les îles…..
